Hello everyone! thanks for looking! Heres my second and final version of my old F-14. There are a but-load of improvements that are on the second photo down. Now, about the decals, they have been sitting in a box for 20 years so most of them ripped off when trying to apply them just like the yellow numbers and the "gunfighters" title. Then, with photography. I took the pictures on a white sheet and paper (the sheet was really wrinkley) then went into gimp and used the color levels button and fiddled with it to make a almost pure white background. I think that was a lot easier than putting a layer mask on. I would really appreciate if you would rate and comment! I worked very hard on this moc and put 30-40 hours, rebuilding, tearing apart, planning and rebuilding. Not to mention staying up to 12:00 PM on school nights to look up ways to build the nose :) Anyways, thanks for viewing!

This is sweet! The F-14 is probably one of the more difficult planes to build but you nailed it. The functions are also a plus. |

Excellent build. I can only imagine how much work it took to make that. I agree with the idea of having more of a tiled appearance, although that might not be feasible with the pieces Lego has created. Great job! |

Excellent job, Jon, though I think that more tiles would be a good idea, but that's just me, and parts of the wings might have trouble with more of a SNOT-like appearance. |

Wow awesome F-14A. Very very realistic it's the tiny details like the front landing gear support that make models like this so awesome. I like the sweep wing design and the nose is very well done. The opening cockpit is a nice touch. I haven't seen your prior version(s) so I don't know how it has improved. I would have seen and commented on Saturday when you posted it but I was doing recreational stuff with my family in lost hills CA and I was busy today. All in all a well deserved 5-5.

Thanks so much for the kind comment! Well, I took one of my dads old model airplanes, the ones you have to glue together and cut out. You soak them in water and then slide them onto the model!

Well actually.. No, i am better at ground vehicles than planes :-) If you take a look at my Sukhoi Remake You'll see what i mean. I got the shape almost right but there's not much functional detail to it - not like all the great stuff you have managed to squeeze in to this one anyways. Thanks though! |
