This huge 212 cm long Scania R500 low loader combo took me quite some time to built (about three years). Still have to search for a suitable load!
About this creation
Already in 2007 I wanted to build this huge Scania low loader combo. Because I already built more vehicles of the same hauler I always knew when he bought something new. In this case a 4-axle Scania R500 unit with a Belgian made Faymonville low loader. The Scania he already had late 2007 but still had to be built according to his wishes. During spring 2008 the low loader was delivered.
In September 2008 I went together with the driver and two pilot cars to Rotterdam to unload a huge American dragline and picking up a return load. For me this was an opportunity to picture any detail of the low loader because he had to deconnect the gooseneck from the low bed to unload the machine.
I started building the Scania in 2008 already. Because I already had a similar Scania building it didn't took a lot of time. It had two steered axles, two driven ones, a V8 engine en tilted cab. The doors and front grille can be opened. The unit is quite heavy.
When I finished the unit in the same year I started building the low loader as well but it wasn't very successful at first sight. The shapes of this particular one are quite different than the ones I built a couple of years before. That's the reason I stopped the project for a while before I picked it up again early 2011 to finalize it. It is loaded with the same Menck dragline as it was laden on the old Scania 111 which I still have together with the new one. That was also an aim; having both new and old Scania of the same company. I really ran out of blue pieces so if I want to build something blue again I've to take apart one of them …

it s a wonder that this kind of truck exists, it is unbeleivable! so many wheels! and it s also a beauty and quite original, that s no wonder as to why you have great respect for this piece of engineering, it s art in it s own right, but, technical, you did an exeptionnal job on this, you re also very patient and persistent, you deserve such a spectacular result! bravo!
Well the front is great, the cargo is amazing in it's own right, I like all the nice details, the color scheme is spot on, and the whole package is just mind boggling. So, with that being said, I shall deem this as 'Spiffy!' =P
