The Forerunner
A slumbering giant awakens!
About this creation
The official records show that ZR Industries founder, Dr Titus, was the first to create the modern mobile suit for the United States military. The first production mech was ZR-1A Titan. Up until now, both of these statements have been considered fact.

Everything changed, once it was discovered.

Discovered years after the Great Mech War, this mech, known only a the Forerunner, shows a very clear relation to the mechs produced by ZR Industries. It shares striking similarites to the Titan in particular, the mech that is considered the pinnancle of Dr. Titus' genius. This mech was found locked tightly away in a vault in eastern Europe.

Only recently, in the year 2037 was the Forerunner found. It was encased in a sealed underground vault located close to Pripyat, Ukraine. Given the non-existent levels of radiation in the vault, it can only be concluded that the mech was concealed there some time before the great Chernobyl disaster. When the reactor melted down, the personnel in charge of studying/experimenting on the Forerunner abandoned their postings as soon as the evacuation orders were given. The dangerously high levels of radiation made it impossible for anyone to enter the area for several years afterwards. It was only recently that the levels dropped enough to make the area somewhat more habitable. As more people moved in to explore and salvage, the Forerunner was stumbled upon.

We do not know up until know how the Forerunner got there. It quickly became apparent that the Soviet scientists did not create it; they were only studying it. The origins of the Forerunner remain a baffling mystery.

I don't know if it shows quite right in the pics, but I built the Forerunner using a lot of dark red parts. The last few pics with the Titan are meant to show that. I need to work on photographing the dark red so it doesn't show up so bright. Thanks for looking!

Quoting Andy Calladine Absolutely love it... It looks like its straight out of an anime. Where so you even start when you design a MOC Mech.
Well I guess that depends: some of my mechs started with the legs or arms, but for The Forerunner I actually started with the chest first.

A stellar design yet again that doesn't even look like Lego! Your desighn remind me of an anime called "Big O." If you haven't seen it give it a whirl. I think you'll like the show and I believe you could pull off building the "Mega-Deuces" (mechs) better than most builders I know.

The issue with your images, the issue being the differentiation between the hues of Red, is due to the fact that the Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS tends to be inaccurate in certain areas of the colour spectrum, mainly due to the fact that it oversaturates certain Reds and Blues. If you are unable to make a satisfactory difference by changing your setup or method, I suggest editing your images using software in order to correct the camera's slight oversaturation of the Red to better differentiate the two colours. To see how well this could be done, I took the above image, and edited it quickly to better show the difference between the two reds. Normally, I ask permission before editing people's images, but I wanted to make sure my advice was applicable prior to explaining, you can find the edited image here, to see if the results are in the right direction: http://refiningstyle.blogspot.com/p/photo-tests.html I did in fact credit you as the creator of the MOC and I linked your Home Page and this Page within the Blog Page. If you have any issues with the image being posted within my Blog, let me know, and I will take it down. Hope this helps in some way.

Quoting Thomas Z. Awesome work yet again! I love all the heavy weapons and the whole shape is just amazing! However I think that the lover part of the torso is a bit of a step back in terms of detail compared to your Titan, but that's a minor thing.
Thanks for comments, Thomas! I agree that the lower part of the torso is not as detailed, that's for two reasons; first, I wanted to use that large piece because I liked how it concealed most of the joints, and secondly, I didn't want any visual "distraction" front the reactor in the chest.

Quoting CEO Luiz Camargo I officially declare this my favorite mech from you! Man, I envy you. Really. And I'm very pleased that you finally put some BFG's in your mech.
Why thank you, sir. Then I shall declare you it's number one fan! And yes, I did decide to really dish out the firepower on this one. Seemed only fitting that the granddaddy of the modern mech (at least in my fiction) get a heaping helping of the good stuff.

Quoting Tim C You are turning out the MOCs pretty fast here, sir. Well, another sweet MOC Zach. You have an amazing talent when it comes to these mechs. I am especially impressed by the chest on this one. If you're proud of that, you should be. The guns are awesome, and the two mechs together there at the end looks like a very dangerous duo.
Thanks, Tim! The red mech at the end is the Titan, referred to in the text. It's in my folder for Titan-Class mecha if you want to check it out!
