About this creation
Hey all!

In my respites from judging, soccer, school, and general life, I have been working on a project for the Eurobricks Architecture Contest. It took me a long time to decide on a model, but once I did, things fell into place perfectly. I even managed to find a LEGO store with white grill tiles and black grill bricks which suited my needs excellently.

My purpose with this creation was to complement the wonderful architectural series by Adam Reed Tucker. I was hoping to stray from the typical modernistic/minimalistic architectural style that the series incorporates, and instead bring the contest to my grounds, that is, the castle world. Most of the other entries are much smaller, so I was going for the "Man among Boys" approach to this one.

The oriental style was quite challenging at this scale and with the colors I chose. I found myself spending a good portion of my time on the roofs and getting the negative slope flair. It is a bit choppier than I would like, but it has been smoothed out a lot since when I first finished it.

Anyhow, the build is pretty self explanatory. For pics and info of the actual building, go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matsumoto_Castle

Be sure to leave a comment. I appreciate hearing back from you guys!

Grace and Peace,
-Blake

Blake, Legobob and I are working on a contest for Japanese/Samurai themed creations. Would you be interested in helping us judge? Your expertise would be appreciated. We have some cool contestants in mind so there should be some really cool builds to see. Let me know if you are interested and we'll invite you to our collaboration group.

This is one fantastic piece of LEGO architecture. Using the white grille tiles was a really clever idea to receive the right texture (though I saw several in- and exterior photos, I'm still not sure if they are narrow windows or not). You really did the original justice.

Quoting Master Shifu Leo J Did not quite 'fit' the category, but a 'solid' build. The main photograph with text bumped up the score to 3 (just barely). XD (J/K!) ... On a more serious note, it's an excellent build! I've seen some of the other entries in Eurobricks. There's some stiff competition. Good luck!
