I recently purchased approximately 30 Bionicle figures off of Craigslist for $50. It was a steal, and now I am really excited about Bioinicle all over again. As a kid I mostly liked playing with the sets the way they were, but now that I have some more LEGO experience I decided to build my own thing.
So, the Rahi from the original 2001 Bionicle story arc were cool. Way cool. The problem was the lack of a good water Rahi. There was the harmless fish thing, and the Tarakava of course attacked Ga-koro. I wanted something that lived a little deeper in the ocean.
I named this creature Nautua, mostly because it's based off of a nautilus. It has some powerful tentacles and powerful jaws, along with a really strong shell.
I actually came up with the idea for a shelled creature when I looked at the pieces from Pahrak and Pahrak-kal.
Gali has found Kanohi Akaku, the great mask of vision in the depths of the sea. But she sees that it is guarded by the fearsome Nautua.
And the Nautua sees her, too.
She approaches cautiously, but she is quickly ensnared in the creature's powerful grasp.
Will Gali be able to escape with the mask and her life? Well, OBVIOUSLY, since she hasn't even become a Toa Nuva yet.
This was a fun build, and in the future I may build some larger Rahi, but we'll see. I'm still learning how to be a builder, and not simply a LEGO consumer.
