23. Vanishing Eden
Create a MOC that touches on environmental consciousness. Pick a life form or location from anywhere in the world that is threatened, and do a MOC that raises awareness.
For my Vanishing Eden moc, I chose a particularly overlooked endanged animal: the Bighorn Sheep. In this moc, a Bighorn Sheep stands among grass near the remains of an old Power Station.
The bighorn sheep (Ovis canadensis) is a species of sheep in North America named for its large horns. These horns can weigh up to 30 pounds (14 kg), while the sheep themselves weigh up to 300 pounds (140 kg). Recent genetic testing indicates that there are three distinct subspecies of Ovis canadensis, one of which is endangered: Ovis canadensis sierrae. Sheep originally crossed to North America over the Bering land bridge from Siberia: the population in North America peaked in the millions, and the bighorn sheep entered into the mythology of Native Americans. However, by 1900 the population had crashed to several thousand. Conservation efforts (in part by the Boy Scouts) have restored the population.
TO THE MOC!

Angled front view of the moc.

Back angled shot.

Here our friend the Bighorn Sheep looks down at the hill below him. The forced perspective in this picture wasn't intended, but it looks good if I say so myself. If it actually was forced perspective, that Scorpion must be HUGE!

The natural habitat of the Bighorn Sheep (the base).

The river and the hill.

Another pic of the water, but looking through at the abandonded power station.

Pic of the channel that the water has carved in the ground.

Bighorn Sheep overview. I modeled my version after a male.

My comparison picture, the actual Bighorn Sheep in it's habitat.
FOURTH WALL: This was quite a fun build, but a rush job at that. I spent most of my time working on the base earlier today for another moc, and then started on my Bighorn Sheep. At about 10:00 P.M. US Eastern Time, I realized I neded a base for my sheep. I ripped off the remaining pieces from my last MA entry and went to work. At 10:05 I got the idea: Why don't I add to my last moc? So, the other moc I had already built today (a Star Wars one) was ripped apart, and the base was added on to and used for this. I must say that I particularly love the landscaping, but that's just me.
As my final entry, I was kind of hoping for more time to post. That did not happen.
Team Bazinga Bricks fought valiantly and wont win, but maybe we can clinch a Top 10!
Comments, high scores, and constructive criticism is appreciated. KP out!
