MocAthalon 2012
Category: Vanishing Eden
Hedgehogs have recently been listed as one of ten most endangered species in Britain. As their natural habitat disappears, hedgehogs have been moving into human neighborhoods. They can be a boon to gardeners, as they eat insects and other pests. But human neighborhoods are dangerous. Many are hit by cars, and many others are done in by lawnmowers. If current trends continue, the hedgehog could be extinct by 2025.
Here's the fate of one poor hedgehog that didn't make it across the street. I just hope his friend isn't done in by the lawnmower...

------------------------------------------------------------
I was going to add more details, but ran out of time. Alas! I just hope the poor hedgehogs don't run out of time, too.
The car is Sally, from the LEGO Cars sets. She's a car from the U.K., so it seemed appropriate. The lawnmower is also a LEGO design; why mess with perfection?

Awesome build! Love the tree, the "Friends-style" flowers. Nice spacing and good colors. |

@Katie, if you chose to work on LEGO instead of going to your daughters birthday party, I would think much less of you.
Can you imagine? I think my family would haul me off to the loony bin if I tried something like that, and I would totally deserve it. ;-) |

Excellent build Katie...I had no idea about the hedghogs! You can't change your entry after it's been posted unless a judge says it's ok. I'm giving you permission now to go ahead and change the name (but nothing else!) ;) Score= 4 |

Oh! And the car is NOT Sally. It's Holley Shiftwell. I totally wrote down the wrong name, even though I was thinking of the British spy car. Oops. I'd change it, but I'm not sure if that's messing with a MocAthalon entry that hasn't been completely judged yet. Sorry! |

I don't consider this to be an "epic fail". Score: a solid 4
Ha ha. I'm glad the build isn't an epic fail, although the poor hedgehog certainly had one. ;-) And I'm just glad you didn't give me a 2. It was either work more on this, or go to my daughter's fifth birthday party. You can see which one I chose. ;-D |

To be honest, I wouldn't change a thing, although hedgehogs aren't really in immediate threat of extinction. The building here is superb, very clean and not over crowded. Great job. ~Thoy
Hey! Those poor hedgehogs! Okay, fine, maybe they're not in such dire straits as polar bears, or what have you, but they still have problems (as pointed out in my links), and that lego hedgehog is just so darned cute. ;-D |

Very nice! There are some nice bits in it. Would look a tad better with SNOT work on some areas, though. -LB Jr |
