INFANTRY MECH - BZ001
Mech Factory .. A New Theme by Boyzwiththemosttoyz
About this creation
I was inspired by many builders like Andrew AKA Hump Free Rates click here ,
Zach Sweigart click here and Andros Tempest click here to build my own mechs.

The background story: The year is 2089, after mankind learned to live in peace, they learned they were not alone in the universe. Some alien races would become powerful allies, but some would become new threats. And so the greatest technological minds would unite... to save us all: MECH FACTORY........A new theme of MOCs by Boyzwiththemosttoyz.

The brick story: The first installment to this theme is the Standard Infantry Mech BZ001. This is a standard mech used by the earth infantry to ward off hostile alien attack. It is based on techniques I learned while building all my legoformers. Unit is fully poseable and is about the same height as my leader class legoformers. Model can be equipped with different mission specific weaponary, shoulder mounted or hand carry. A standard pulse rifle can be stowed on the mech's back. Hope you like my new theme! Nice, I love the flexibility and features! Also, nice use of those printed bley Clone walker armour pieces, I still need to find uses for I handful I nabbed on bricklink. :) Great work!

Very nice build and smart brick usage! The cockpit design is really my favorite part. BTW, do you ever think about to let the shoulder a little bit upper? I feel it will make it looks more strong, well just me.

Cool! Hey, I've got another idea! There are many free 3D animation softwares on the internet, so maybe you could get one of those and make your own youtube series! Unfortunately, since I live in australia, I can't use the ones like blender, bu maybe you can!

Thank you!
Quoting Zach Sweigart Outstanding job, Chris! I'm honored to have partially inspired this phenomenal mech. I really like the cockpit you've made and the poseability is excellent. I also like the variety of weapons. Personally,I think the combination of old and new dark grey lends itself very well to this build. Five stars for you, sir!

I don't seperate them for just this look. Med Gray or Dark Grey!
Quoting Kalva Pevensie Awesome! I'm sure after building transforming robots all the time, this was a breeze. Also, did you use the old and new gray bricks on purpose, or did you not have enough of one or the other? Because it gives the mech this really cool battle scarred-rusty look. :)

No doubt my legoformer style is going to come out in this line and as you said without worrying about both modes you can concetrate more on look instead of function.
Quoting Scott Allen I really like the look of your 1st mecha. Now I know this is a departure from your transformers, now you can focus on only robot form, no need to worry about it looking right in both modes. When I look at this guy I see a robot that looks like the perfect robot form from G1. The lines are smooth and it just looks like it jumped from the TV into real life lol. I know its not what you were going for but I love it! Great build.

You starting a mech theme? How unlike you. LOL! Anyway, even though it's a basic-looking mech, I love the shaping of the limbs and the fact it can hold a minifig. Can't wait to see what you do next!

This is the cannon fodder cookie cutter mech, from here there is nothing but possibilities on the subject matter.
Quoting Thomas Z. A very nice build indeed! The weapons are very detailed. I have to say, I'm not too fond of the ball joints for the arms, tough they are very practical. The legs kinda resemble G1 Megatron's legs and the color scheme is just right, however I'd like to see you build something similiar with different colors in the future. All in all, a very good Mecha!

I'm pretty sure, at least builders around here, refer to new medium grey as bley - due to its bluish hue over the original medium grey from calssics sets. Not the Dark grey, but whatever I get the point.

A Non-Tranforming Mech... Chris Roach's name on the Page... Well, I'm baffled, however, I'm not confused on the fact that this is well designed. As someone who dabbles in building retro style mecha, I am not surprised that this has a Macross Battroid feel to it, which is by no means an insult. As for the colouring, I find that this maintains a retro feel, while adding something new to the mix. It's not simply Grey/Gray Scale, which it appears to be until a closer look is taken. The addition of the Sand Coloured adds enough variation in the colouring to give it its own appeal but without it being crazy, which is great considering the fact this is intended as a basic unit, simply cannon fodder, and last time I checked, only the skilled characters received custom machines and/or paint jobs. I'll keep an eye on this project and don't think I didn't notice the shout out, thanks for the mention, didn't realize I managed to influence a builder of your skill level.

When Arik says bley, he means the new dark grey. Nice design, I rather much like the arm design, and the over all shape is well defined. And I'm also found of that head. ^Blub^

Actualy its a mixture of old and new dark grey not bley and i think it gives a warn metallic panelled look, ideal for robots, that's why I don't bother separating it.
Quoting ariklego ...The Director! nice! I think part of your retro-futuristic style carried over from your Transformers builds (I'll let you decide if that's a good or bad thing). unfortunately the mixture of grey and bley elements had a negative effect on the coloring, but if you take the nice chunkiness and the weaponry you hardly notice. excellent work, especially for your first true Mech.

Quoting David Alexander Smith Inspiring work. Love the contrast when the mini fig is revealed. Nice photography too. I'm still trying to figure out how you get that overall smooth-chunky feel to your mocs; I can work out individual parts, but the overall design eludes me. Great.
