Brand new WiP model that I'm working on!
About this creation

Tank Project 1.0

Name Tank: No name yet
Stage: Creation stage

27 March 2012 Entry 1

I finished finally the tracks completely, I created a chassis which carries the tracks, engines and batterybox! Big leap forward although I did have several flaws to correct. Still 1 odd flaw in the design, which is one of the tracks is little loose. Result is the tank does not have the capability to go in a straight line for long. Trying to fix this of course!

Further I made a few quick pictures which show the current model, uploading these to flcker page and mocpages. Brickshelf will follow after that.

I had some trouble finding the right wheels to use for the tracks. It took me a few hours to figure it out, but now finally I have found the right wheels. Next is to figure out how to do the suspension on the middle wheels, the outer wheels will not have this suspension feature. Due to the lack of the (right) bricks I am forced to have minimize material useage. Meaning only the front wheels will be powered. I a was hoping to power the rear wheels as well.

Aditionally to the thoughts, I am thinking of making a own design. This should make it easier later on plus potential extra add-ons should be easier to install then. Instead of 1 barrel weapon, I am thinking of making it dual barrel on both sides. Each should be working either together as 1 set, or with a little luck 2 sperate sets.

24 March 2012

The long awaited project can finally start it's first stage.
Most of the models are ripped apart and nearly everything is sorted.
Figuring out how the tank will be working is a hard one and will not be done on MLCAD.

Planned at this moment:

Movement → forward, backward, 180 spin
Turret → 180 spin
Barrel(s) → arc up/down, barrel leveling, with luck recoil
Lights → Front/rear lights (optional)
Battery box(es) → 1 in main body in the front, 1 in turret for turret controls

- Project has been halted due to lack of time + tracks that refuse to get fixed. -
- This will continue completely fresh later on. -

Tomorrow I will take it apart entirely and restart. This to inprove the entire project, or hoping to do that at least.

Quoting George Staples Pretty good WIP. I think your width is just a little skinny. Also a couple tips; There is no need to motorize the front and back sprockets. however, if you wanted to the easiest thing to do would build a drive off the back of your front drive. I think the second battery box in the turret is a great idea, however, make sure to put it close to the pivot point, so there is less weight on the outsides.
Actually the front sprockets are only linked to the engines. But I was thinking indeed to make it a little wider. It may be fixing the odd track problem I been having as well. For the batterybox, I was planning to make the rear with a hatch to get to the batterybox. The turret will be needing space for the turret, or actually dual turrets. Since it will be more like a AA-tank style in a way. So small turret in general. BUT the turret style can always changa and it could be that ill be adding a second batterybox into the turret afterall if needed. Thanks for the suggestions! :)

Thanks Timmy! Tomorrow more work on this! althought I can't help wonder why I shouldn't make it a little wider. Seems a bit smallish for the track length.
