For this category I chose the famous Loch Ness Monster.
I think every one knows about it already, but incase you don't, in short, Loch Ness is a lake in Scotland, there were multiple sighting of a creature and there are also pictures and recordings but they are either very vage or simply fake.
Very interesting about this is that there actually was a project to fully scan the lake with the purpose of finding the monster; using sonar they detected a large moving object. Later they also discovered there are a lot of underwater caves in the lake.
check out the link if you're interested.

Interesting fact, the lake is deeper than the sea surrounding scotland, the water is very cloudy and full of algae which makes it very difficult to see anything underwater.

Ofcourse I needed a scottish minifigure to go with my Loch Ness monster, before I realized I made someone else's sigfiggy :P
Btw, I only found 5 creations here on mocpages, considering the Loch Ness Monster, so few, it made me doubt wether this really is a well-known myth.
The most fascinating thing about this myth is that it cannot be fully prooven that the monsters doesn't excist, there isn't enough evidence to proove it excist but it's considered possible that an evolved dinosaur species lives there.
Can you imagine that ? the lake of Loch Ness isn't the only scottish lake with tales about monsters, maybe the lakes are connected via underwater caves and the nessie's live in them, they are no mammals so they don't need to surface...
I find it all very interesting but I've never been to scotland, I guess we will never know wether there really are such creatures deep in the lake.
Anyway, thanks for watching.

I've heard many people feel that Nessie (the original) was actually circus elephants bathing in the waters. Strange, eh? Score= 4
maybe that's not so strange, those records date from a time where people in Scotland probably hadn't ever seen an elephant before so you can imagine, when such gigantic beast is 'cruising' the lake a monsters tale is not far away :P
Thanks |

Your Nessie looks exactly how I imagined her. It's a pitty the new minifigs aren't out yet, the Scotsman with the bagpipes would have been a good addition. |

A very cool moc. Nessy is quite well built as is the submarine. However, regarding your point about the monsters living in the Loch for years and years, wouldn't they eventually die off because of inbreeding? Just a thought, though I would love it if Nessy was found one day! |

Very nice! A very well built Nessie! Also, in all technicality, even though Nessie isn't a mammal, she/they actually may breath air if they're an aquatic reptile called a 'plesiosaur', which is a widely suggested theory, much like sea turtles. Just sayin. ;) But again, awesome job! |

Ha, awesome! I'm a huge fan of these creatures and cryptozoology in general, and actually considered building this. I'm glad you built such a good model, now I'm not obligated. ;) Anyway, I assume you've seen the photos Dr. Robert Rines took? Great work and good luck! |
