About this creation
2012 MocAthalon
Team: Something SNOTy
Category 2: A Day at the Circus:
Ladies and gentleman -- boys and girls, the traveling circus is in town! It's time for you to be the ringmaster and depict a day at the circus in LEGO! Will you create a small scene, or a big tent? It's up to you. Make it colorful and fun for big points! (Duplo animals may be used as well)

Roll up, roll up! Come one and all! Welcome to the Greatest Show on Earth!

Meet Andrea the Bear, with the twinkle toes! Watch as she rides a cycle onto the ramp... Andrea dear, I fear you are too heavy for that ramp...

Oh dear! My dear bear, are you quite alright?

Next we have the poodles, so cuddly and cute! So proudly they dance, oh what a hoot!

What are you doing, dear poodles? Are you climbing a tower?
Oh, I cannot watch....

Oh, the children are crying! What a shame, what a shame...

Don't be alarmed kiddies, here is a clown to make you laugh! What a joy! What a riot! He is the king of good cheer!

... but wait... what is that he's juggling?... is that... no it can't be...

KITTENS AND SNAKES?!?!

Oh the humanity!

I can't believe I left Cirque du Soleil for this... perhaps our next act shall right the horrors of the night?

What have we here? Why its a LION!

My dear... I don't think that lion wants to jump through that burning ring...

I don't want to watch this...

This is the worst show on earth. I'm going to the pub...

Ah my dear sweet angel you found a way to incorporate me into your wondrous circus! What? Wait, I'm not the lion! I thought I'm always the guy in your cat suit fantasies. It's not that kind of fantasy. O.K., I think I'll go find under a rock to crawl under now. Anyway I love your circus of fiasco's and I still think I would make a great lion for ya'. Meow-wow! |

The bear gave me a good laugh - hilarious. I like how you used the 'curly' parts for the director's moustache and the poodles. The golden design above the entrance, is it a stylised head of a cat?
I'd love to say that I am that clever. Perhaps cats just build themselves subliminally into my mocs. |

The tutu wearing bear on the bike absolutely steals the show, but the lion is a close second. I think you should have a go at Stu's ClownPunk theme someday, you'd kick booty!~H
Now I have discovered colour (thanks Lego Friends) and have brightened my world beyond the greys, browns and tans I've loved for so long I can start to explore different themes such as clownpunk.
These games have been excellent in that regard because I have opened my eyes to COLOUR! And with colour comes a sense of fun and play that I'm just loving. I used to see my red, yellow and blue trays as just gap filler bricks to be covered up with the "real surface". |

As I have come to expect from you, your photography is excellent. Different parts of the build were very well done, while others could've used some work. The colors are very well chosen. Were it falls apart for me though, is in the bear. Score: a VERY solid 4 (just shy of a 5) |

It's funny because at first glance, I thought the same thing as the first commenter about the figures not being very realistic, but as I went through it, I got the cartoon theme of it and really loved them. Great work! |

Millie,
This is absolutely wonderful! I adore the tutu wearing bear, the way you've used printed elements (Cars) that are extremely limiting, the design of the big-top (particularly the star shaped entryway, the humor, and as always, the photography. Great work.

That's a shame. I was going for a cartoon style, they remind me of Spongebob Square pants characters a bit... |
