The Emergence of the Automaton
About this creation
For 2012 MocAthalon
Team Common Elements in Ovid's Metamorphoses

High above in the mountains stretched a shimmering lake whose waters sparkled like jewels tossed by the sunlit breeze.

Through those waters a solitary traveler rowed his boat toward the horizon where the unknown awaited him. Underneath the quiet morning sun, the landscape echoed memories of the past and the mountains sang in silence.

He should’ve been here a long time ago. There were once more boats drifting toward the horizon, boats full of cheerful faces and laughter.

Stoic, steady, and nonchalant, and traveler continued rowing his boat toward the horizon where the unknown awaited him. Underneath the quiet afternoon sun, the landscape echoed memories of the past and the mountains sang in silence.

In that particular sunny afternoon of the past, there was happiness to be found. In that afternoon without him, the world sailed by.

Stoic, steady, and nonchalant, and traveler rowed his boat. His gestures became perfunctory, his gaze lifeless and detached. Like an unthinking machine, he rowed on and on.

And so, it is nightfall. In his last thoughts the traveler dreamt of an echo from the past. Let it resound in the stillness of the darkness and find its way back to him, so that in his dreams he may go back once again and live the life he never had.

Fantastic, abstract, masterful. Even love the choice of Source Material. Not always easy to bend Lego around the curve of the imagination, but I think this has succeeded. Cheers! =)

In my eyes, this is one of the hardest categories in the MA this year, but you did a fantastic job with it! Score: 5

A lake of untapped beauty hides a dark secret... This is truly magnificent. A work of art and beauty that gives way to the imagination. I am amazed. :)

I'm not sure how it fits the category, but a brilliant build nonetheless. Mata Nui meets the Iron Giant meets Atlantis!

On all counts, composition, subject-matter and piece usage, there is no one to touch your inventiveness. Wonderful - no need to say anything else.

I'm not even sure what to say. I'm slack-jawed. This is not playing with toys; this is an artist manipulating a medium. Your works are always amazing, this is no different. The details are perfect. It is scary the talent that you possess. Thanks for sharing this with us.

Stoic, steady, and nonchalant, the MOCpager clicked "Add a Comment." His gestures became perfunctory, his gaze lifeless and detached. Like an unthinking machine, he resisted the urge to write on and on.
