Previously on Battlestar Galactica:
About this creation
Strummer: "Frak! I'm hit!"

Shraga: "Sir, it's Strummer, he's been hit, no signal from his emergency beacon..."

Mav: "Galactica, Maverick, approaching the landing bay, let's get the frak out of here!"

Nempec: "Jump!"

LT Kevin Moodster, call sign Strummer.
His Viper, severely damaged in the midst of battle, now careens into the gravity well of the planet Canceron. The Athenian Raider had been stealthy, approaching from his blind spot. In spite of his talent as a pilot, his lack of combat experience made him an easy target. Unfortunately the emergency transponder in his fighter was destroyed, generating no distress signals to the Galactica.

Assuming his Viper lost, and the rescued Levopolis safely aboard Galactica, the order to jump the ship was given.

Luckily for Strummer, the damage was limited to the engines, leaving the cockpit and its various safety systems intact.

More than simply a parachute, Viper ejection seats had been upgraded to include a component more akin to a hang glider. Advances in paper thin yet ultra strong alloys which respond to electrical currents made such a feature possible and reliable.

Strummer: "From the looks of it, I should have brought my snowboard!"

Strummer: "This is going to hurt!"

Strummer: "Nice!"

Strummer: "Galactica, Strummer, do you copy? Made it to the surface, over..."

Strummer: "Galactica, Strummer, please respond!"

Strummer: "Frak! Okay, first things first: Get to higher ground!"

Strummer: "This ought to be higher enough..."

Strummer: "Galactica, Strummer, do you copy?!"

Strummer: "Anyone?! Bueller?"

Strummer: "Frak!! Looks like I'm going to need to find a place to stay."

Strummer: "Hey, what might THAT be? Probably not a B and B with warm tasty popovers, but I suppose it'll do."

Strummer: "More like some kinda military outpost."

Strummer: "All sorts a junk lying around..."

Strummer: "Pretty quiet..."

Strummer: "Find a door, find food."

Strummer: "Maybe even a radio. That would be nice."

Strummer: "It's like something out of a creepy scifi movie."

Strummer: "What the?"

Strummer: "What happened here?"

Strummer: "What were they doing?"

Strummer: "Some kind of experiment?"

Strummer: "Torture?"

Strummer: "It's like they were building body parts..."

Strummer: "Is that...?"

Strummer: "An arm?"

Strummer: "Ahhhh!!!"

Strummer (out of breath): "Okay, get a grip, Dude!"

Strummer: "Gotta get away from this place."

Scout Ship departs the Triton for the surface.

Major Leda Ouriana, call sign Cougar: "Smell that mountain air!"

Cougar: "Alright boys, nice day for a hike!"

Cougar: "Let's find our lost pilot."
Marines: Yes, Sir!"

Cougar: "Hopefully he hasn't gotten himself into any trouble..."

Strummer: "Thank God! Cougar! I crashed, and I found this place, torture, experiments, it was..."
Cougar: "Whoa, slow down, it's okay, we've found you!"

Strummer: "What are you doing here anyway? I thought...?"
Cougar: "We received a distress signal from the Galactica."

Cougar: "From what we can tell, the Athenians were somehow able to get around their defenses ..."

Cougar: "They got a nuke into the flight pod, and..."
Strummer: "But? What are you saying?"

Cougar: "There was nothing we could do, by the time we jumped in..."

Strummer: "Nooooo!!!"

Particular points of commendation for this episode (as I don't need to keep saying the same old praise do I?) . 1. the arm, really clever use of the change in scale and nice build too. 2. something I really liked was the use of the black grilles on the outside of the outpost to break up the big grey wall syndrome - simple yet effective. Good work mate!
You're on a roll here! Figured I'd give the organic thing a try, just for fun. And as far as the outpost, I went for the biggest pieces I could find, avoiding a massive brick investment. The shoot was a challenge, lying in the cold cold snow. Glad you liked the show.! |

Awesome storytelling, Bart. Sometimes less is more and using less words/dialogue makes this story so special. I don't know if you have a tripod, but you know what that scene in the outpost would have made even better? Less light. I was wondering where the light in the outpost came from. The whole scene would have been so much creepier with only a bit light from where he came in. Lots of shadows. But therefor you need a tripod. Anyway, fantastic story.
Thanks, Dude! You know, I tried a variety of lightings with that set, but it was tricky to get a good focus on distant points within it. I probably ought to get a camera with manual override, oh well... Thanks for the great comment! |

Are we all certain Cougar wasn't in charge of the experiments? lol. Love the snow sets man, did you actually build those rock walls and then sprinkle them wit hhandy snow? Looks great! The joining of nature with your Mocs has really wroked all along:) And cool fight scene, esp, the ejection!
Thanks, Chief! I made that building, but had to wait around for some snow. Then we got a dusting, so I headed out into the yard at 7:00 in the morning. Just what I was after! Glad you liked it! Make sure you check out Garry's new Baseship, too. |

Love the exploded view of the arm - brilliant! Not sure if I've seen every episode, but is this the first time you've shot in the real world? You did an excellent job, as always.

Awesome! Between the creepy base, arm design, and Bueller joke this is probably one of my favourite episodes so far. And then there's that betrayal at the end, of course! Never thought Leda would do something like that...
That Cougar sure is a sly fox, right? She has a plan...All will be revealed...Thanks, Dude! |

What an impressive episode.Incredible skin job scenes only surpassed by the snow job scenes. Well worth the wait. Love all the skeletons. They must have been testing the structural integrity of ligaments hanging in the closet. Super achievement. Love the cgi. You have mastered them so well. Now it seems I have a lot to learn.
CONGRATULATIONS DUDE.
Thanks for the great comment, Garry! It's a big day for BSG. Love that new Baseship of yours! |
