Ford F-150 SVT Raptor
About this creation
The Ford F-150 Raptor. If you do not know what this is, I strongly recommend watching the video below from Top Gear (American Version). It features the raptor and shows off its amazing abilities. The coolest part of this truck is that it is a production vehicle. It comes out of the factory ready to rip up terrain like nothing else.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5paAXmf_8A

A few stats of the raptor:

  • Engine: 6.2L V8

  • 411hp @ 5500rpm

  • Suspension Travel: 12in rear, 11in front

Comparison of my version to the real one.

Some specs on my version:

  • 1XL motor for drive

  • 1m motor for steering

  • solid axle rubber band suspension

  • 4 speed transmission

Here are some pics of the frame.

The transmission is not my design. I got it from Sariel who makes some very awesome stuff.

The steering is my design, I have a worm gear drive mounted to the axle and two planetary gears linked via universal to the m motor. This allows the suspension to travel, and the steering to work all at the same time.

As you can tell from these pictures and the picture below, it has a interesting suspension system. The real Raptor has independent suspension, with the A-arms and shocks and stuff, but when I went to build the suspension, A-arms and springs didn't give me the appropriate travel distance. Also the A-arms and differential made the model too wide for the tires. So I played around with a few designs and came up with this one. The only draw back is I had to leave a hole in the bed for the shock arms to move up and down.

A demonstration of what the suspension is capable of.

This is my alternate title pic, I made it first, but found some awesome fonts to use, and made the other one which I think is better.

I mounted the battery box to the roof, it is out of the way of the transmission and motors and stuff. It looks a little weird hanging from the roof, but that was the only place to put it.

The front solid black portion is supposed to say FORD as shown by the pic below.

The black pieces I put in for "Rims" really helps make the truck look more aggressive.

Some pics below of the Raptor "Jumping"

If you watched the video at the first, you will know that jumps like this are nothing for the Raptor. It can take quite a beating. It lives up to it's name.

As you can see, the interior is, well.. lame. I put a dash in, and left the floor boards out, made the receiver look like a seat. I didn't do much here, because I wanted to save on weight.

So I have a lot of pics of this. I got a little "trigger happy" with the camera. :) I deleted some from here that looked like doubles. But I think I have over 50pics on my computer.

One final photoshopped pic.

I'll leave you with this pic which I think make it look like the Raptor is staring at you saying "Bring it!" Thanks for looking!

Quoting LissAngelM ... Hot truck man. You didn't even have to compromise the body to fit the motor/susp/etc. Awesome.
Thanks :) I actually designed the motors and working parts before the body.

Quoting Thomas Graafland Cool! Excellent photo shopping! I like how you used SNOT. The suspension looks very innovative! Do you have some explanation or photos that show how it works? I think the battery box looks a bit weird, but a great MOC anyway! 5/5 :-)
I actually had a good idea, I'll make a new page with a whole bunch of suspension systems, and make a video on how to build them.

Great work! I'm thinking of making an RC car myself. I like how you made the chassis, but I'm not very fond of the rest of the car, particularly the rear. I feel like something is missing. I would like to see a video of it driving. Great work though! Still 4/5 -LB Jr.
