SMT R3: Akara the Sea Keeper!
YEESH THIS WAS CLOSE! But anyway, hope you enjoy my entry: AKARA!
About this creation
Name: Akara
Gender: Male
Species: Cybertronian
Race: Cybertronian
Element: None
Occupation: Sneak attacking Decepticons from the sea.
Title(s): Autobot
Kanohi: None
Alignment: Lawful Good
Moc Status: Assembled

Callan’s Story: Akara was a faithful Autobot during the War of Cybertron until he was captured by the Decepticons. Tortured for months, Akara was finally able to escape the Decepticon’s stronghold, but had his optics damaged during his risky exodus. Blindly wandering the universe, Akara found his way to Earth where he crash landed in the sea. He realized he was among many life forms in the deep, and decided to scan any of them, happening upon a dolphin. Through his new alt. form, Akara found he had the sense of sona, allowing him to sense others, and essentially lighting the darkness of his lack of sight. Now Akara wanders the sea, hoping to find means to return to Cybertron.

Robot Mode...

Transformation!

Dolphin mode!(Snout/beak is sharper and longer for defense in dolphin mode.)

Chibis with Akara in Dolphin mode.

Callan: Man, this is a HUGE one! Should be good for the dinner table! Or should I just chibi him?
Akara: NO! I'd rather become lunch than one of those things!
Talon: HEY!
Pirai: That remark was pretty MEME!!
Vored: SHUT UP, PIRAI!

Fourth Wall Commentary:
Wow, I hated this category! XD But I'm still pretty pleased with the result. Unfortunately, my family was really, really REALLY busy lately, and school kept me down just as much. That's part of the reason the robot mode is a little mediocre. But at least I gave it my best shot, wish Akara and I luck! :D

Quoting Callan, Lord of Fire
Alright Cal. You've made your argument. I'll give you an extra point for creativity and build if it'll make you feel better. Total: 13/20. Sorry for the conflict. Till next time. ;)

Quoting Legofreak2444 ~ Hmm. Sounds like a familiar story.
Are you referring to our Moc-Off? You had more time than I did, and I even posted first! Not my fault the judges liked my pair better. And you thought I'd cheated by getting Ben's advice. And I seriously doubt you judged everybody with the same standards as mine, otherwise everybody would be getting 6's or 7's and would be lucky for an 8. But considering everybody agrees with me about your scores, I really don't care anymore. :)

Quoting Steve The Squid
You're right, Steve, thanks for that. I still think this moc was pretty good, though. I just feel like Legofreak is being a bit biased towards Akara. I appreciate your score and thank you for holding this great competition. :)
  March 21, 2012
Hey, that's life. I've had a few mocs where I felt I worked harder on them and were a notch above my usual, to find that when I posted it, lots of people had huge problems with it. Look at my Artikus for an example. When I had built it, I thought it was the coolest thing, because it was all trans-colored. Then everyone disliked it, and I felt mad and really hurt, but had to go on. I probably said some mean things as well. But later, I looked back on it and realized, "Hey, this is not that great of a moc. Time to do better." I find that right after I'm done with a moc, it looks like the coolest thing in the world, because I made it from my own mind. I call it "Mother eyes" :) Mistakes happen, and mine sure helped me to become a better builder, and I'm still working on overcoming my own bad habits. Hopefully you can look back at this later and feel a bit better for any reason, and try not to take it too personally, you're not #3 on google's suggestions for 'mocpages' for nothing, you know, and your reputation isn't going to be soiled by one competition that most people have stopped following anyway. :) I do think LF judged a bit low, but there's nothing to do about that. Here's my score: (and I'm using creativity to judge the transformation) 7/10 for build, 10/10 for transformation (probably one of the most involved transformations out there, especially for a relatively small moc, compared to some transformers!) Hope this helped :)

Quoting Callan, Lord of Fire You work hard on a moc. You've been super busy, and you barely make it, but you've tried your hardest to make the cut and you do. The next day, you see all kinds of people telling you that it's junk. You get kinda mad. And when you're feeling really frustrated after all the work you put in, one of your friends who's a judge seems to completely blow off the good parts of what you built and gives you one of the lowest scores of the competition. Well, you probably know how you feel. Sorry you didn't see "what you're looking for" in this moc, even after all the work I put in. Now because of your score I'm going to lose tremendously, rather than making it a close call and losing with my pride. You're quite the pal.
Hmm. Sounds like a familiar story. I'm sorry about your troubles, but I just judged what I saw. I didn't leave out the good parts, or the bad. I can't give you higher points just cause I'm your friend. I have to be fair to everyone. I hope you understand. ;)
  March 20, 2012
Yeah, I don't really know why he hasn't given you any score. I thought we judges should. Edit: I've seen he rated. Sorry. I think im not that attentive today :S

Quoting Vored 03 Ow, Callan, I've just seen I've given you the wrong points. Creativity: 10/10. Build: 8/10. Total: 18/20. Sorry. Still, Akara has won with 1 point in difference.
Wow, well that's too kind of you! I certainly see why you'd prefer Akara's, his was very well done as well. I just wish Legofreak had seen it that way.

This is a really cool build, the transformation looks very nice. Your rating: Creativity: 9/10. Build: 7/10. Total: 18/20. You made the better and more complex transformer, however, in my opinion your opponent made a better design with more greebles and stuff. Sorry, but my rate goes to your opponent.

Quoting Legofreak2444 ~ Your transformation may have been better but I'm looking for more than just that, and Akara provided. Sorry, good luck with the other judges. ;)

As a technic-function-o-phile, I obviously prefer yours over Akara's - his choice of transformation was still very unusal too, though. I'd never seen a manticore OR a dolphin done in bionicle before.
  March 19, 2012
Despite what you say, I think that the robot mode is absolutly awesome! so is the dolphin mode too! it looks a lot like a dolphin. if i was a judge, my vote would go to you. akara's was good but the transformation was too simple, your transformation is WOWZA!!!!!

I think I agree with Callan here. Akara's entry had a better robot mode, but Callan took a harder path with a dolphin since it has no legs.

Quoting Legofreak2444 ~ A nice attempt but I know you could have done better. Creativity: 6/10. Build: 5/10/My vote when to your opponent.
Ba da bum bum bum... Another one ignores the transformation! Sigh, I should of counted on this. You judges don't give two flying poodles about the transformation, it's all about the modes. >.<

  March 18, 2012
For my two cents: The transformation doesn't have to be involving. Just look at leobreaker (whom I based Callan off)!

Awesome transformer! I really dig the dolphin mode, even though it looks more like a marlin ha great job though!!!

Quoting Steve The Squid I know, I'll certainly factor in you more involved transformation; I forgot to comment on it earlier, I loved how the technic liftarms flipped up! I was just expressing my belief that when building a transformer, both modes should be equally important in how they look. It's nothing personal, I think I'm just bad at wording :)
Thanks for that, and I certainly agree with your thoughts on making both modes equally important. Unfortunately, that's where the time factor came in. :/

No, time can't be factored in. But it seems like you're completely forgetting an entire aspect of this moc: the transformation. It took a LOT of time and effort to make it transform like that, and everybody loves Aaron's entry even though his limbs don't even do anything besides move back so he can stand up. Granted, Aaron's entry is great, but I feel like I took a harder route and now nobody would appreciates it.
  March 18, 2012
The dolphin mode is pretty sweet, but as was said before, the robot mode was a bit meh. I can see you were strapped for time, but unfortunately that can't really be factored into your score :/ Good luck though! :)
  March 18, 2012
Your transformation was more involved but akara has a more eye appealing moc. This will be interesting...

Thanks so much for all your input guys! Just to let you know, my family's been busy like heck lately, so the robot mode did end up being a bit half hashed. Hopefully the judges will take note of the more involved transformation of my entry, but if not, it's been an honor, guys!

This is great work, I love the original dolphin mode :D I think the victor will be Akara though, as his entry's both forms are very clean looking despite the simple transformation. Btw, I found the theme of your mocoff to be quite amusing. Just saying (Not to advertise here, I hate advertising), I've been building a bioformer for quite a while now myself. =)

Very nice, and good job tying in the storyline with the dolphin mode. To be honest I like Akara's better as a whole, although the transformation on this one seem so much more involved than his does. Either way it'll be a close one! :0
