Something a bit different from me. I am starting a "Blades" category, and thought a kitchen knife would be a good place to start. Nothing much to look at, but I think it is pretty cool.
About this creation
The full profile of the knife. I tried my best to get a nice contour, but it still ended up a bit chunky. I braced the joint between the guard and the blade in 3 places, and the guard and the handle, to it is a lot stronger than you would think it is.
From the top, you can see the width better. The challenge of going form 1 studs wide to 2 was interesting, but altogether pretty easy. The hardest part about this was keeping the looks without sacrificing structural integrity.
As of the cutting board, that is real wood, if you couldn't tell. My dad runs a workshop under the name of Prairie Oak Studios. Check him out on Facebook if you would like to see some more of his work.
