megatron reinvented
About this creation

Like "my own" Optimus Prime, the idea here was to give him a "cybertronian" feel to the alt mode. My original idea was more like "War for Cybertron" Megatron, but the body was too short for the arms to form the cannon where and how I wanted it without making the torso longer.
It does transform (almost) without parts swapping, only the gun needs to be repositioned.
ok, I forgot to add the (well deserved) credits for this one, naughty andros!
firstly I would like to thank moodswim, his WFC Megatron gave me a couple of ideas for the transformation. Since this is on a MUCH smaller scale, I've obviously approached the mechanism very differently.
Secondly, as with most of my "mini" scale mecha, I've borrowed ideas from lots of other moc'ers who work in this scale, there are only so many ways you can create a working joint and I think just about every joint on there is out there by someone else (and by me probably too), check out my home page for my list of moc'er who have inspired me for the full list.
Details:
This is a very different Megatron from the one we remember back in 1984, history wise he's still on Cybertron, hence his tank mode still has a heavy "futuristic" feel. His arm cannon detaches and transforms into a rear mounted assault cannon for his tank mode.
Fourth wall:
As ever I pretty much made up the design as I went. Because there isn't that much planning in advance, the vehicle mode is not quite what I would want. As I stated before, I'd hoped for the arms to sit further back, but unfortunately due to the way the shoulder is made that wasn't possible.
I'm about 40% happy with the general proportions. The arms feel too long and the legs too short if I'm being honest. The head also looks like it would suit a smaller figure.
The transformation is ok, quite a bit more advanced than any I've tackled before, I may borrow elements from it to make the version 2 which will be more in line with the "My" optimus Prime figure I did last month.
To make the two more in proportion I need to make the following changes, which (assuming I find the time) I will tackle later this week:
Robot mode:
-head needs to be taller and hinged so it can be more expressive, I've already designed a new head which is different from any version I've seen so far. My priority is to NOT simply copy the one used by Moodswim or Chris Roach.
-elbows and knees need an extra joint
-ankles need to be better defined both to increase the size and stability
-shoulders need to be raised (or the chest needs to be made smaller)
-waist needs to be made more articulate, I'd like to add a bend, but certainly I'd like to add a twist, at the moment that isn't possible
Vehicle mode:
-tank treads are too big, however making the body longer will offset that
-cockpit is a fudge, I need to create something which LOOKS more cockpitty
-detail, especially the tank treads, is generally a bit limited, with a larger body I could probably address this better.
What I intend to keep:
- I'm actually quite taken with how the gun worked out, it does sort of transform, though depending on what changes I make to the vehicle form it may not work in the new design
- colours, the classic G1 inspired grey and black is very reminiscent of the original toy (and early comic book incarnation) so I will probably stick to that

Nice work! I really like the scale.
hope you noticed I've given you a credit, your WFC transformation was a big inspiration for this design. I felt you deserved to be acknowledged.

AWESOME! Is that a tank for the alt mode? I can't tell.
sort of, as I added in the description it's a futuristic/cybertronian tank.
