Team Moctley Crew in Category 4: Saint Patrick’s Day

Stompin’ snakes like a saint!
Contrary to popular belief, Saint Patrick had a bit of help in exterminating every last snake from Ireland. A finely tuned piece of equipment weilding next generation snake-fighting weaponry, I present to you the Saint-Class Mech!

Slither all you want, serpents: you won’t escape the Saint for long!

A grave-robber is interrupted from picking over a Celtic tomb by the smashing of armored feet above him.

“Mercy, Lord! Mercy! I repent! Don’t let me die in this tomb! Hold up the walls, I beg! I swear on me life to quit thievin’ and become Your servant! Just spare me life!” Hmmm, I guess you can say the Saint kills snakes AND saves souls!
Now, onto the mech itself…

Primary weapon in the fight against the snakes: high-powered weedwacker, used to hack apart thick brush, grass, and unlucky snakes; also used for cutting poor parishioner’s lawns :)

Weed-wacker also doubles as a walking staff and symbol of hope to snake-ravaged Irish peasants.

It’s not all killing and death, folks: the Saint sports twin anti-venom injectors to treat life-threatening snake bites. A small electronic eye is used to analyze wounds.

“Bend over, ya ninny! It’s naught but a wee little little sting…or would ya prefer to end up a bloated corpse?”

Snake-repellant-projectors release noxious gases to dull snakes’ senses. Disoriented, the snakes are then quickly crushed by the descending feet, which are specifically designed for snake-stomping. Crunch!

High frequency noise receptors can hear slithering from up to 5 kilometers away.

Powered by the most common element in the Green Isles: Irish Ale! Gets 100 kilometers to the keg…not too shabby for a 5th Century vehicle…

Piloted by good ‘ol Saint Patrick himself.

Mech controls and targeting computer. Only someone with divine ordination is qualified to pilot this bad-mammy-jammy!

The Saint is a very stable design and can stand on its own; it features more than 12 points of articulation.

Saint Patrick, the Robber, and the Celtic cadaver.

16X16 base. What? You think I didn’t read the rules!? Hah! Get some, haters! :D
One final pic for fun…

“I shall prevail, even in the face of incalculable evil!”
Background info:
I’ve never built a mech before, so I thought I’d try my hand at it whilst jointly fulfilling my need to put out something original for a category undoubtedly going-to-be filled with leprechauns and drunks. The design was a royal pain to build; I now have immense respect for all the dedicated mech builders out there! I used just about every green piece I own in the design, as well as every brown piece I own for the base. The story was fun to make, especially the repentant grave robber’s little tale; I’m not a Catholic, so I hope I didn’t offend anyone with it :) All in all, I think the whole thing turned out pretty well; not to bad for a first try, right? Well-wishes to my fellow competitors and as always,
GO MOCTLEY CREW!

Hilarious and inspired! Great mech. Love the weed-whackin' shellaleigh... shallayley... shillaiylaugh... aaaahh, I can never remember how to spell that! Bloody Celtish lingo. Anyway, the injection scene is terrifying, and will haunt me for days. Good work! |

One of my favourite entries so far! The idea of a saint in a mech is absurd and hilarious, as is the grave robber. I also really liked the bit where St. Patrick prepares to vanquish a mighty foe, is that a pet? |

Good but why does he have a cheesy Scottish accent I'm Irish and find that quite insulting and Saint Patrick came from wales by the way. He probably didn't banish any snakes either. Other than that this is quite nice. Maybe my criticisms just come from the fact that I'm an atheist though.~Bourbon. I sincerely apologize about the accent, as I am very bad with pinning them down:( Also, I am well-aware of Saint Patrick's heritage and the fact that Ireland never had any snakes on it to begin with. However, you've got to remember that I am not trying to insult the Irish people here; it's merely a humorous MOC based on a holiday filled with nonsensical stuff, bro. If I got offended at all the Italian jokes (I'm part Sicilian) that have been made about me over the years, I'd be a basket-case by now. As for the atheist thing, I can't help ya there: I'm a Born-Again Christian ;) Thanks for the comment anyways!

Very cool! Kinda reminds me of the AMP suits from AVATAR. Again, great job and, not to mention, beautiful snake! Is he a corn? I only ask because I have two California Kingsnakes. Again, awesome build! Yep! I've also got a balled-python and a Honduran milk snake...which makes this creation very hypocritical of me, I guess :P Thanks for the comment!

Very funny and well built too! That's a combo for points! That weed wacker in outrageously funny! I've just used that rubber band 'pants down' technique in a recent moc/story I'm working on... great minds think alike... hee, hee! I like your snakey pooh friend too! :) |
