About this creation
2012 MocAthalon
Team: Something SNOTy
Category 16. Fairy Tales

For my fairy tale I have chosen to do Snow White and pay homage to the timeless, feature length animated classic Disney adaptation; Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

There is a moment in the film which is actually quite terrifying and I don't mind admitting it. A tiny, one beat moment where all is happy and tranquil and the woodland animals are helping Snow White as she prepares a pie for the dwarfs and it cuts to the window of the cottage where the Queen, disguised as an old hag is staring in at her.

I have strived for cosy and welcoming in this moc to contrast that tiny, scary face peering in through the window.

Upstairs we have the seven beds for the seven little men. (Prior to Snow White moving in the cottage lacked the feminine touch... she has remedied that wherever she can)

On now to the exterior of the cottage.

The poisoned apple.

Lastly some miner details to look at:

It was fun stocking up the ground floor of the cottage with all of Snow White's cooking and cleaning bits and pieces because she does so love to cook and clean... (this film was made in 1937)

Thank you LEGO "Friends" for the cutest kitten.

Leave the front door open and those pesky chickens will just wander in...

Thanks for stopping by.

How did I miss this? You really put those friends sets to good use. I do love them myself but couldn`t come up with a good idea. Spot on details.

You really managed to transform the Disney look into LEGO« and even more, you managed to use all those different and 'extreme' colours and still it doesn't look c.h.a.o.t.i.c. but really cosy. I like the little bit of smoke coming out of the chimney. Very clever.

Great scene Leda! The beds are cute, and the overall atmosphere is nicely done. It's tough to get enough lighting on the ground floors of these multilevel builds, eh? I always have to tear down a wall or two to get the right lighting and I still screw it up. LOL Score= 4

Quoting Pedro Resendes I admit at first, I thought źnot my kind of MOC╗, but then I realized there is much to learn here. I'm paying close atention to the well, and the chimney is superb! (though I prefer the ones you did in the Prancing Pony, with some round 1x1x1) Also, lovely front of the cottage, very Disney!
Thank you, Disney was my main aim and is the reason it doesn't resemble the Prancy Pony style. I avoided that intricate texturing here as I wanted it to look like a cartoon, and not trying to mimic reality.

Millie, There's so much to love about this; from the white tiles on the chimney, the irregular base, the cut away presentation, and the marvelous reveal of the beds (to mention a few). This is an excellent return to minifig scale for you. Thanks for sharing your inspired imagination. ~Dave

I must sgree with Parrington. There are so many great pieces to these Friends sets but I would feel even more uncomfortable buying them at the store (I get enough wierd looks form the cashiers as it is now). At least you can get them and build lavish sets for the rest of us to live vicarously through your wondrous skill! Simply beautiful my dear. Meowww!

Quoting Stacy Sterling So many delicious little details inside! I love the well on the side of the house, the facade, and the texture of the landscaping. The only way this could be better was if you brought it to Brickworld this summer :)

Great work here, Leda. I agree, the evil queen/hag moment is a bit frightening ... but it would be even more frightening if you'd have put Chris or Heath's sigfig looking in that window!
