My 4-wide version of the iconic Tumbler Batmobile from the Chris Nolan Batman movies
About this creation
I wanted to built a 4-wide Tumbler for a long time, but I didn't have an idea how to arrage the wheels. I wanted to have the 4 seperate rear wheels clearly visible. After seeing George G's Micro Tumbler I had an idea and built the first chassis. After a while I built the preview model. Then I ordered some parts to complete it.
Compared to the preview version I've made some minor changes on the model:
- Black parts wherever possible. As Bruce Wayne said: "Does it come in black?"
- Chrome wheels on the rear end (the original has aluminium rims with black)
- An additional pair of flaps (1x1) on the rear end
- A modified front cover
- A slightly modified windshield
You want to see some more pictures? No problem:
Rear view: Three pairs of flaps on the rear end
Bottom view: The 4-wide base. The total width is more than 4 studs (even a little more than 5 studs), but the chassis is 4-wide.
The front: Additional axle as an option to reinforce the front
The original look: Wheels attached to the side panels
The flaps on the rear end
Each flap can be moved independently to stabilize the vehicle during a big jump.
A tough decision for the Dark Knight: "Hmm, which ride do I take today...?"
So this is my 4-wide LEGO Tumbler Batmobile from the Chris Nolan Batman movies. I hope you like it :-))
There are a few more 4-wide Tumblers out there: Apple Pie has built two of them with a 6-wide rear axle in 2008. George G's Micro Tumbler looks like it's 4-wide, too. And Nathaniel Vendt has built a 5-wide (?) Mini Tumbler in 2008 with a rear end quite similar to my one.
Malte, Sven, Gabor, Nick, Peteris, Vinny, Tom and Jared: Thanks for your comments, I'm glad you like it, too ;-) Hmm, there are still missing about 30 likes in the counter, I hope they can be recounted one day... This is one of my favourite own models and I'd like to see it on its place in the top 3.

(btw: you forget to mention Zeto Vince one, who's, for me the best Tumbler of Mocpages!
I totally agree: Zeto's is the best one I've seen. But it's bigger than 4-wide. There are a lot of great Tumblers out there: There is Fogtod's Technic Tumbler, Chris Roach has made a great one, too, DeTomaso has made a cool 6-wide, ... I could go on and on and still forget one :-))

Where do you from in Germany? because I'm going 3 weeks in "Würzbourg" from this Sunday! :D
By car it's about 5 hours away from my home. Hannover or Berlin is much closer. You want to know where I live? I'm Automotive Engineer and I work and live in a rather small town in the state of Lower Saxony. You have one guess where exactly ... ;-))
Fan. Tas. Tic. It absolutely equals Zeto's Tumbler in its scale IMHO. Awesome parts usage, very convincing shape. - Your collection of movie cars is fantastic, too. You should build some kind of museum or presentation stage for them. One is missing, though, a certain black and white sedan with Illinois plates ;-) - Nils, wärst du so nett und schickst mir eine Elektropost? Meine Adresse findest du auf meiner Heimseite hier (ganz unten). Würde mich freuen.
Hi Nils. I am fine thanks and very pleased I have restarted the gt40 :). I love all of these cars especially your updated tumbler. The flaps and new shiny wheels look great. James bond's lotus looks so good I will have a closer look later. Talk soon. Don't forget to add it to the bricks of steel group. :)
Nice Tumbler and collection of movie cars! (btw: you forget to mention Zeto Vince one, who's, for me the best Tumbler of Mocpages!, don't worry, your is the second in my fav'! ; ) ) And I want to ask you something: Where do you from in Germany? because I'm going 3 weeks in "Würzbourg" from this Sunday! :D
