Bluesmobile
1974 Dodge Monaco Sedan with Police Package. "It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters, so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say? Is it the new Bluesmobile or what?" - "Fix the cigarette lighter!"
About this creation
7 studs wide, 2 opening doors, detachable roof. Fits 1 Jake and 1 Elwood (hats included). There are some fantastic Bluesmobiles already (I’ve probably seen them all), but - hopefully - no 7 wide Bluesmobile fitting 2 minifig Blues Brothers so far. So it was worth giving it a try. Many thanks to Nils O. who gave me an important hint concerning the bullbar which looked odd with the first version. Thanks for looking.

July 22, 2012: Finally the BM got its searchlight.

April 7, 2012: Updated version with loudspeaker and some chrome. Some hints concerning the chassis see below.

Jake and Elwood taking a trip to Brucewaynelego's City. Many thanks to Brucewaynelego-Toyshansolo for his generosity and support.

The chassis. The main point here may be that the axles are fixed with minifig stands.

Quoting Sam V Hello, what a wonderful BM you've made! I'm trying to build it as a present for my little brother. I can't seem to find the pieces for the loudspeaker. Is that a 3x3 dish? And what is that piece you use behind it? Thanks a bunch either way!
Thanks a lot for your nice compliment Sam, sorry for the delay. Nice to hear that, that would be the second reproduction I've heard of! No dish, but the backside of a train wheel, see http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=55423. Then a 4x4x2 cone, then a 2x2 round brick. If you have further questions feel free to send me an e-mail, see homepage. Good luck!

Thanks a lot Nils and Hot. @Nils: Yeah, without speaker it is no real BM. Still thinking about the drawbridge, though ;-) @Hot: The grille is made of chromed 1x1 plates. - Yeah, we always get by with a little help from our friends ;-)

Is it Mega blocks for the grill?! It's bad! Really bad!... Nooooo, I'm kidding you! Really nice Bluesmobile, I've always love this movie! I think it change my life and my music repertory... ; ) However, and about Nils help: "Every body, needs somebody", right?! ; )

Thanks a lot Robert and Elk. @Elk: Well, as I wrote it is not my city (sadly I do not own a single building so far ...). Jake and Elwood drove all the long way to Brucewaynelego-Toyshansolo's fantastic Gotham-influenced city, one of the coolest and most stylish Lego cities I have ever seen. You can check it out on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/brucewaynelego/).

Thanks a lot guys, glad you like it. Too bad the rating system didn't work at the beginning ;-) @Ben: You should definitely watch the movie then, it's quite funny and cool, many damaged cars, too ;-) @Rocky: No problem, but this will take some time since I am on vacation right now. There will be some new photos anyway (still missing something), I can take some of the chassis, too.

Quoting Thomas Graafland Do you have photos of the interior? I'd like to see them! :-)
Well, Thomas, there is no real interior with my cars, I'm afraid, but there soon will be some more photos after a few changes - of the interior as well. If you specify what you would like to see I can shoot some more detailed photos.

Thanks a lot for your nice comments guys, glad you like it! Thanks also for those famous quotations, H a v l and Tris! @Tris: No kidding - that's exactly what Jake's gesture should express. It's just the moment before he says: "Hit it!" @Nils: Thanks again for your hint concerning the bullbars, I always mention it; yeah, there will hopefully be some Blues Brothers gear (megaphone of course, although it will be difficult to not just copy my predecessors, another police car hopefully, but no drawbridge, although I'd like to have one ;-)

Wow, a great combination of 7-wide and 6-wide. Cool parts usage for the "bull bars", they look a lot better now. The 4x3 minifig plates are a great choice, too. My favourite details are the front grill and the tail lights. Great job! :-)) (Hmm, that's another movie car for my to do list. And I have to buy the parts for those minifigs...) One more question: How about the speaker, will you build one? ;-))
