Polaris Sportsman mods Mark II
About this creation
Here they are mods markII. MarkII mods include.

  • Added a winch

  • Added a removable snowplow

  • moved XL motor up into frame for better ground clearance

The winch. It turned out pretty good considering how and where I mounted the motor. The two gears you see on the front are all the gearing down the winch has. I used a m motor and sneaked it into a empty space.

Yep under the seat. :D there was empty space, and I decided that it needed to be filled. So I ran a drive shaft with 4 universals to the front for the winch.

I also added another receiver and another switch. The reason for the first switch below the handlebars is to extend the cord for the steering motor, the second switch is because I didn't want two cords hanging off the side of the battery pack.

There is NO room in the front. I have a IR receiver, 2 switches, 1 m motor, and a Worm gear drive crammed together. Making this 4wheel drive will take a little redesigning, and a few more parts.

I moved the XL motor up 1 stud, I don't think it will go up much farther,

It doesn't give much more ground clearance, but its better than where it was.

The snowplow. It can be positioned into 3 positions, left, center, and right.

The snowplow is detachable, via two pins on the main frame, and is winch operated. The white rubber bands are so that when you hit something solid, you don't rip it out of the ground, or break the blade. it bends over, and then springs back. the real ones have spring, and it's sometimes painful if you hit uneven cement going too fast.

A picture with the real one. I used this one for my model.

Thanks for looking!

Quoting Chris Melby Yeah, the plow is killer! But you have to admit, they don't work that good in real life, the winches are slow, and you have to get off the machine to turn the blade, used to have one mounted to a Honda Rubicon. 5/5, Looks Great, Chris
I don't know about Honda, but the Polaris ones are pretty fast. It is a pain to change the blade tho. Beats a shovel tho! ;)
