Well, here is the project that I have been working on the past few months. The bulk of the building was done in January, and since then I've been waiting on Bricklink orders and trying to take some decent photos. Now I know, I know, I already made a 458, But I just couldn't help myself from trying it again after several years of staring at the car. It's not that I didn't like the first model, I just wanted to try it differently. Borrowing heavily from the techniques of Malte Dorowski, an unbelievably creative individual (the "Porsche God" himself), the style of this car is different from what I've done in the past. While certain things definitely work much better on this car, there are aspects of my old design I wish I could have incorporated here. That being said, here (and I apologize in advance for taking too many) are the pictures:
About this creation
First, some general shots of the car:

Now some shots of the opening doors, boot and engine cover:

Official 458 luggage set for the boot:

The headlights:

For the first time with this model, I was able to include the brake discs as well as the calipers; if you look closely, you will see the dark gray brake discs behind the rims:

This was accomplished by using large Technic steering wheels as rims, and assembling the rest as shown here:

Next some views of the Blu Scuro/Carta di Zucchero interior (notice the carbon fiber trim and the paddle shifters on the steering wheel!):

And the 4.5 Liter, V8 engine for which the car is named:

I love this shot, a view right over the engine to the front:

Some details of the rear diffuser, and the brick-built Italian license plate:

And what's this? It seems a white one has joined for a race!

On your mark, get set, go!

Some shots of the white version:

And the custom black and white leather interior:

Amazingly, my Ferrari mosaic is still complete, so I figured some group shots would be nice:

As well as some group shots with their die-cast counterparts (and custom Hotwheels cars)

I love the style of the available racing seats offered with the 458 Italia, and even though I had originally planned to use standard seats in the white car, I ended up building the racing style for both, just for fun:

Finally, (and thanks for sticking with me, if you made it this far. If you skipped to the end, I won't blame you!), a final picture to leave you with

Thanks for viewing! As always, any comments or ideas are welcome.
Also, again, credit to Malte Dorowski for his curvy techniques, and a special thanks to BrickPicks and A Lot Of Bricks of Bricklink for great service and selection.

Hi Ryan. Yes, that's too bad that you had to take apart your cars. They're really cool (especially the F1). I hope your big project won't take as long as my Maserati transporter to build. My Maser is, I'd say, 95% complete, which doesn't seem too bad; but it's been like that since late April (or maybe early May); and first I started building during winter break. It's on hold because of school, lack of money, and other non-LEGO stuff. But I plan on finishing it up after the MocOlympics, as well as updating my 458 Spider and finishing my Fiat 500 Abarth (which I never really finished the right side of the car; that's why I only showed the left side in the photos. ;-0). Then after that (probably during December) I'll start work on my [planned] RC Ferrari 458 GT3. I'm hoping to build it in 20 wide (excluding the wheel arches). So how wide do you think the wheel arches should be, as they're lots wider than on the regular 458? I hope you will post soon...it's weird for MOCpages to be without you and Firas (thankfully Sven & Jens are back!). :-) It's kind of weird...my first year on MOCpages I was posting large scale cars like crazy, and this year I haven't posted many at all. I guess it's either my cars take longer to build (due to me adding more details) or school work is getting heavier. Or maybe both. I hope you are well. -LB Jr. |

Congratulations on 100, Ryan! Ah, so I'm guessing that your McLaren F1 is no more? I plan on building one in the not-so-near future; but a racing version, perhaps. I think I know what your "long term project" is. ;-) I, too, plan on starting another car (this time in XL scale...20+ wide...or maybe a little less...? Not sure yet) in a couple months. I haven't started built a car since...oh...wow...April...? But I'll be back with a new car soon (hopefully). -LB Jr.
Hey, thanks! Sadly, no, the McLaren is no more. Most of it is now part of the white 458 (and the red one ate up most of my FXX). I'd love to see an F1 from you; there are surprisingly few on MOC pages it would seem. As for my bigger project, I finally inventoried all the pieces and now I just need to go through and actually order the ones I need. I think it would be really cool if you built a 20+ wide car, they are very fun to do. My XL Enzo, FXX and Ford GT were all some of my most fun to build cars. The only problem is you run out of pieces a lot quicker! And I know what you mean, it's been a while since I built anything as well, time flies. I was hoping to build this summer, and I was just really busy, though I promise, I'll make something as soon as I can! |

Hey Ryan... first of all: mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa for not commenting earlier on. See, I wasn't that much into LEGO the last months. Anyway, my jaw literally dropped to the floor when I saw this beauty. There are so many innovative techniques in this whole creation... the lines of her are just incredible! When I look at my cars they seem to be built out of bricks. Sure, they are built out of bricks but I mean those brick-shaped bricks... ;) Maybe one day in near future I finally finish my (not yet started) 458 project. And I know: to get a convincing result I will have to take many glances on yours. Dang! So, what's next? The FF? The F12berlinetta? Whatever it'll be, you'll never fail to impress! Best wishes, Jens PS: Comment 100!
Thanks for such kind words! I would love to see a 458 from you, as it is definitely one of my favorite cars (in case you couldn't tell!). Any other big projects coming up? As for me, FF and F12 are definitely on my to-build list, and I have another, larger project which may or may not be completed soon depending on time and bricklink orders...I know very well how easy it is to get caught up in other things |

I know I've already commented on this, but I just have to say again how brilliant it is. You've included literally everything from the real car, from the brakes to the headlights. The shaping is perfect, especially on the front. The headlights are just incredible though, they look exactly like the ones on the 458. This is one of the best builds on the whole of the MOCpages, just mind blowing! |

Seriously?! Did you HAVE to post this? Gee, every time I try to make a really good MOC, someone beats me to it. Just joking. :0 Your old one was already super good and this one is even better! I quite like the way you were able to bring out the curves on the side; it has a different "interpretation" of the curves and in some areas, it looks better than your old version. I'm not sure if I'm fond of the new headlights (I understand why you made them with 1 by 1 plates). Maybe it's just a matter of taste. I do, however, like the fact that the headlights no longer has that odd gap that you had on your old 458. I've also found a way to make the front similar to your old one without having the gap. The side profile is really, nice (okay - extremely amazing) but I feel like the front nose area (with Dorowski's cheese technique) looks rather odd and the rear pillars look a tad short (add 1/2 a stud?). But I really think it's just me. The rear is GREATLY improved! I like how there's no longer that 1/2 plate gap! Sorry for being so particular. I do truly think it's WAY better than mine! You are so amazing, Mr. Ferrari! Eh? Fond of the 458 Italia? I should say! You made three! I am also quite fond of it too. Mine should be posted once I get the contest results (probably mid-March). Keep up the great work! @DeTomaso - You really like to rub it in, huh? :) BTW, you need to join the MocAthalon group (not just the team) and sign up if you haven't already. Maybe...although if you couldn't tell from my collection, I'm rather fond of the car myself! |

P.S. LB Jr won't be happy that you beat him to posting this lol
Well, I felt bad when I saw he was planning on posting one, but at that point, mine were already half-built, and his is the Spider version at least so hopefully he will forgive me!
As for Firas, I would love to see either the 458 or the F40, or anything new, really! |

We see alot of those here in Wellington Florida!
Well then I am quite jealous! Saw an F430 Spider once and a couple of Californias, but that's about it |

Wow, that's awesome! The design is very close to perfect, especially the shape of the side panel. My favourite detils are the seats and the wheel construction. Great job! :-)) |

The capture of the elegant forms, and the details are fascinating! Most i like the defusor, and the lights, but the curves of the body are also real great! The interior- style and colour-sheme of the red one makes my eyes shine. Congratulation to your new Ferrari. |

I can't believe how fantastic this came out. You got the shape exactly right, you get the feeling of the modern-goodlooking-perfectionist-best on the road-supercar s-p-o-t-o-n!. This is the best t-h-e b-e-s-t ! you can get in this scale!

You've outdone yourself here Ryan! These are brilliant! Maltes technique has worked wonders with the shape. I have a suspicion that Firas is building this at the moment and i'm not sure he could do much better. Well done to the "Ferrari master" ;-) |

WOW, your Ferraris are absolutely great, full of YourOwnTecnic the shape are perfect, I love all the details, the brakes are heavymetal. The picture with the different white 458 are a beauty. Keep your great Artworks! |

Hi Ryan, they are absolutely fantastic. No need to apologise for the amount of photos. There is so much to say - I love the hood especially but the interior is also excellent. Great wheel technique and I love the bag. The shape is perfect. |
