A short story following one man's descent into darkness.

About this creation

Slade took a deep breath as he surveyed the vast curtain of darkness which stretched across the horizon. The blackness was only broken by the glimmering of distant stars. He wondered what galaxies lay their in the distance, waiting to be discovered. He thought of his former life as a Mandalorian. He laughed to himself at the pointlessness of it. He looked back on that faithful moment in which his life had changed forever. It had only been a week, but it felt like a lifetime.

His thoughts were interrupted by a familiar voice. That of Darth Chronos.
Darth Chronos: Are you ready my apprentice? Are you ready to take your final ritual into darkness?
Slade: Yes, my master.
Darth Chronos: Then ignite your blade.
Slade stared into the hilt of his Lightsaber. He gazed at the battered helmet which he wore. The scar left by the blade of Darth Chronos from the day of their meeting crowned the helmet. It had once been a symbol of loyalty and respect for the Mandalorians. It would now be a symbol of fear. Fear. The word echoed through the chambers of his head. Was he scared? Yes. Scared of the darkness he felt shroud him. Scared that he no longer knew what his future held.

He ignited his blade. It blazed a ferocious red against the blackness of the sky. It warmed his broken soul.
Darth Chronos: Let us now descend into darkness. Are your ready to embrace the unfurling darkness which subdues your mind.
Slade: Yes. No.

Darth Chronos:
By fractured bones and blazen lands,
As consuming darkness takes our hands,
Lend your thoughts and mind and soul,
And let pursuing darkness take control.
Slade felt a silent enigma taint his mind. An ancient labyrinth opened in the walls of his head. And from it's falling walls leaked the relentless stream of pure darkness. And Darth Slade smiled.

Sorry about the lack of pictures. This was more about telling a story, and giving an all important bridge into the next explosive episode of The Forgotten Saga.
