Tahnakai Falls
About this creation
Tahnakai Falls was created long ago by a powerful water elementalist. Soon after, a stone fortress was built to protect the magical spring and provide a place for mages to dwell and study. Currently, a powerful wizard protects the fortress and guides a select few as they seek to increase their magical aptitudes and master the arcane magics of the earth. From time to time, his wisdom and knowledge are sought by those with a noble and challenging quest.

I had a lot of fun building this castle - it is my largest to date. I started it Sept 2011 and worked on it here and there until mid January when it was finally ready for the minifigs to move in. During this project my kids were frequently found below the table playing while I stared into space trying to decide how I wanted the next lump of castle to be. Although it is taking a bit of time, my wife is becoming more and more interested and involved in my hobby (yes!!).

I very much appreciate many of the other 'castle' creations posted online, as they are not only wonderful to look at, but provide me with many great ideas and ingenious building techniques - so thank you fellow builders! As always, thank you for your comments, suggestions for improvement, and for stopping by. Enjoy!

Oh. My. God. Astounding views, I really can't build something like that. I really think that you should either apply for LEGO to work there, or start up your fan-made teaching school, so there will soon be more master-creators on earth. this is so much better than anything I could ever think of. Thank you for making my day. And by the way, if you do open a school, I would be one of the first to enter. keep up the awesome work man! Arshad, just a regular Dutch teenager.

I just want to say, Mr. Corredor, that I have a bit of a sentimental attachment to this MOC (which is strange as I didn't build it). Incredible castle, mate! I like those black weeds you got clinging to the bottom of the bridge. They add a nice touch. However, some things I would suggest is first, add more flat tiles to the walls and floor, so that the whole thing becomes more studless and second, you could add more detail to the floors. steps, etc., especially those inside the castle itself. These do not take away from the rest of the build though, so magnificent work, 5/5! Oh and that waterfall effect? As magical as the magic those wizards practice. =D

But, once I took the time to look closely at the complex design work and exquisite detailing, this castle was revealed to be one of the finest examples of the subject that I, personally have seen in a long time.   February 20, 2012
It is hard to describe what struck most me on the main picture 2 days ago... I watched all your pics a dozen times and I'm still found of them!! Is that the "design"? The way the building is intricated within the landscape? The mix and balance of both? I've seen many castles on Mocpages or flickr recently. Some are minisized but show very nice walls ' texture, some are massive but more simple and there is yours. UNIQUE. I love the blend L&LB gray, the bridge over the waterfall taught me there were many things possible with lego I did not know (I still cannot believe this wonderful bridge!).The stained-glass windows left me speechless: So beautiful. The stairs made out of the rocks. The left tower is incredible, too. What else to say? The landscape? So well inspired, so well balanced! At last, I will have a close look to your other stuff.

Hey Nannan, I used the 'tank tread' technique listed on the how-to page at classic-castle.com. The link will take you to a tutorial by John Boozer here on mocpages. Its a pretty simple and sturdy technique, but there is a new technique I am hoping to try sometime soon.

Quoting LukeClarenceVan The Revanchist This is simply incredible! Immediately the water jumps out at me, the plain blue really works in these larger MOCs. Also, it's impossible not to gape at that waterfall, and I'm amazing by the superb rockwork. The castle itself is astonishing, both in size and detail. The curved staircase in the rocks also jumped out at me, and having just started one myself I'm in awe of how flawlessly the curve is integrated in the stone. This is possibly the best castle I've seen on MOCpages, and a MOC I'll come back to stare at for years to come.

Quoting Kayne _ Stunning work Brian! I have been waiting to see your next creation for along time. This explains what took so long:) This a great creation with a ton of great techniques. The sheer size itself is amazing, but the flow throughout is very organic. I really enjoyed the rounded tower with the 2x2 Tiles on the outside of it. But the pond in the castle grounds and the waterfall are the signature of this build!
Thanks Kayne! I suffer from notenoughtimeintheday - which I hear is going around. 2011 was an extremely busy year for me. Maybe this year I will have more time to spend with the bricks.

This is simply incredible!

Wow! I really am at loss for words here. The entire structure is a masterpiece. The details and minifigs really make the entire set come alive. Nothing to complain about here, as this is he BEST castle creation I have seen all year. You, sir, deserve a trophy.

That is the best castle and landscaping I have ever seen (and I've seen nearly a hundred!) The waterfall, stained glass, and the odd angled walls are very impressive!

Nicely done, I love the details, particularly the stained glass! The studs on the 2x2 battlements look surprisingly good, but I think a little more decoration on the bigger battlements would be good.

Stunning work Brian!

Everything about this is fantastic. The castle has good angles, making it not look blocky and boring, and the sheer size and strength of it look incredible. The landscaping is amazing, and the people are in such realistic poses and actions. Very nice work.

Beautiful work thoughout - I like the layout, with the stream meandering around the castle. The stained glass is breathtaking. Are there mock battles to come? My kids destroy everything they play with, so perhaps not. Anyway, lots of fun, and nice job!
