NightWing
A Super Hero from DC Comics. NightWing has associations with Batman & Robin and Superman.
About this creation
This is an experimental moc, I have built a few similar figures, but I have never used these technic pneumatic Ts before. It took me one evening to figure out the best way to position the joints. Another evening to correct the proportions of his limbs and torso. One final evening to turn him into Nightwing and give him that super hero physique.

Many builders have used these joints before including the great Chris Roach and Moodswim to name a few, so I have tried to make this figure a little different. I have included a waist joint (it tilts and swivels) and wrist joints to create a greater range of movements and poseability. A new hand design using binoculars and minifig hands. And a new eye technique. All of which I hope have never been used before. I have also left enough room in his chest to insert a light brick as I did with my Iron Man.

I urge any figure or mech builders out there to try these joints out - they have an amazing range of movement and poseability.

If you are interested in Superheroes why not join my new group Bricks of Steel and add your own creations. Do not worry if you have not built a Superhero related moc just enjoy the group. :)

I have used 3mm rigid pipes to create his blue eyes and 7mm hose to create the mask. I know it is a bit cartoony but I like it :)

Exploded views of the joints and limbs. You need twelve Ts to create this. Two for each limb. One for his neck and one for his waist. You also need a shed load of clip plates and 1x1 bricks with studs facing in all directions ('quad bricks' as I like to call them).

I really enjoyed making this moc so I hope you like him too.

I am planning a few more similar mocs soon; Wolverine, Batman and Spiderman to name a few. I might also revisit my Boba Fett and Iron Man. Any other suggestions?

I also intend to create a series of 'Lego Kung Fu' creations using an improved skeleton design which is much stronger and much more poseable than this version.

Thanks for looking I would love to hear your comments and suggestions for future mocs.

I like your superheroes a lot, Maybe I'll try one some day. Hi Nathanael, Thank you so much for your kind comment. It means so much coming from you. I am really enjoying building again and over the moon (and astounded) by the response to some of my mocs. I have two projects on the go at the moment but once they have been completed I will definitely be building more alternates. As you know - you can’t argue with inspiration ;). Thanks again :)

Hi Joe, it is always nice to hear from you. Indeed it was already a little time ago. Struggeling with the brickcount of the P68, because LDD isn't the most handy for that purpose. As I have only about 300 from the 1000 I need, the count has to be right. . Anyways, I think I stay with vehicles for a while, but your builds are truly awesome.

Quoting Andrew AKA Hump-Free Oh, since you're making a Kung Fu Frame... I dare you to make Goku from DBZ.
Shhh! don’t let the secret out ;) but that is the kind of look I am going with for the teacher (MortalSwordsman) but the frame you speak of is literally a skeleton, so I can get maximum poseability. As you know as soon as you add muscles or clothes it limits the movements significantly. Thanks for your interest Humpfree :)

Quoting Marcus Paul This is really awesome. It is extremely well shaped and balanced, from the thumbnail you'd rather think of a living creature. I think it's got something to do with the proportions of the limbs and where exactly they are fixed to the body. Very impressive.

Quoting StoveTop Creator I too have been thinking about making something with those joints, since I saw them used by Mood Swim in his 'mood scale' figs. Articulated figures are a fascination of mine. Anywho, great build!
Thanks StoveTop I was hoping you would see this. Give it a go you will not regret it. This is bigger than 'Moodland scale' but the principles are very similar. Other than the size the main difference is the waist and wrist joints. I am not sure if anyone else has done that yet. Hopefully I am the first :)

Ahhh so you decided on Nightwing afterall :-) He looks great! Saw him on Friday night and I like the changes you made to him, the eyes are awesome in blue! I really need those black rounded pieces on his chest for my Lotus! Got any spares? If you want to make The Joker I have plenty of purple you can borrow ;-) The only thing this post is missing is some different poses I just loved playing with him and seeing what different poses you could make with him.
