In the Racing world, you need no more weapons than speed and agility. None is more lethal.

RAS-12 "JackRabbit"

The RAS-12 "JackRabbit", a top of the line speed demon produced by RGF Productions.

The JackRabbit is a small, fast, agile mecha built around the concept of urban and light offroad racing.

Standing at just over 15 bricks, this light mecha makes for a small target when facing larger, more menacing competitors, but don't think that the JackRabbit takes that as a disadvantage.

The JackRabbit can both run and roll, thanks to the special "toe" pads built into the feet. While walking, the toes flex as part of the foot, and the wheels are looked into position. When in Roll mode, the toes fold up across the front of the wheels as wheel guards.

The wheels are slip-engine configuration, with a engine sitting on either side of the wheel/foot to supply maximum torque. With a slip-engine configuration, the engines drive the wheels, but should the wheels begin to rotate faster than the engine can turn, then the drive shaft rotates independantly of the main wheel, to reduce drag and friction.

With in the forearms of the JackRabbit are simliar engines, and additional wheels are mounted with the forearm having the ability to twist. This povides many sophisticated possibilities while in the middle of a race. The wheel can be used to grind against walls and obstacles, as an effort to prevent pitting and being run into the wall. It also allows for a small speed boost when the engine is engaged. In addition, it can be used as a non lethal melee weapon to slow competitors by throwing them off balance.

In addition to the engines, the JackRabbit comes equipped with a pair or high thrust boosters. They can only fire for a total time of 30 seconds. Each booster is independantly geared.

CREATOR'S NOTES:
Hope you guys like this one. It's now one of my favorites. It's based loosely of my Conka.
I look foreward to the other contestants and their entries.

Sorry for the late comment, but I wanted to wait with it till my entry is up! The way you made the weels is ace in my opinion, and the overall shape is very nice, tough it gives off an off-road feel. 5/5
And what an entry that was! Trying to give me a run for my money, or just going to run off with my money? I think I lost. Thanks for the feedback. It wasn't intentionally designed for offroading, but it was designed to be adaptable, so I guess that fits, ey? |

The colors are nice, although I think the yellow 1x1 round tiles are a bit overused. The overall feel makes me think it would be well suited for off-road racing rather than street racing. My favorite part is the boosters on the hips. Good luck in the contest!
Well, I did imagine that the JackRabbit would be suited for some offroad, but that's not the primary function. Glad you liked the boosters, I almost left them off. |

I don't typically speak in this manner, but... Dude, this thing is SICK! ...okay, back to my normal self now. :P anyway, I hope you don't mind, but I've decided to brainwash you, steal your creation for myself, and leave you with my own racer Mech (which has, ever since that "wheels are required" monkey wrench got thrown in, been running as smoothly as a gravel driveway). VERY clean design. the overall look and proportionality has clearly been polished to utter perfection. what's more, not only does it look nice, it's also very practical. |

Like JakTheMad said, it could use some curves, but otherwise, really good work. Digging the little toes that keep it standing (and the feet in general). |

I thought the competition opened on Tuesday 14th? oh well.
Nice design, reminds me of an autobot with the wheels. I should have mine up next week. |

It is a nice mech (digging the feet) however to me it looks a little flimsy for racing, lacking in the curvature department should I say. The originality of the deisgn however is excellent, and as such I award you a 4/5. |

When I saw the wheels on the arms I almost thought it was a transformer. Nice entry, best so far. =D |

Another great job! This one looks real fast and sleek. But IMO the arms are a bit odd, doesn`t seems to flow with the rest of the mech. The shoulders are amazing, as well are the legs and feet. |
