Two takes on capstans

About this creation
You have designed the hull, placed the guns and so on. Your eyes make their way to the plans of the ship you intend to build and there is this thingy that has to be rounded and has to have eight sticks pointing out in all directions.

There is a whole bunch of takes on how to meet this challenge. I have limited this posting to two of my own.

The small capstan

This was initially designed for the
Brig-of-war HDMS Lougen-class

Steps

I start of with a core


This is covered with plates and disc in the appropiate colors.


And then I only need to add the sticks.

The large capstan

This was initially designed for the
HMS Lively class 5th rater

Steps

The structure is based on the lightsaber stick and round plates.


The lower half is covered


The sticks are attached with upright holders.
