About this creation

Not exactly directly inspired from any one frame, just a general homage.

note:

This one is saved on my D drive as "work in progress" and as far as I'm concerned is unfinished (please bear this in mind when commenting). Colours I'm 60% happy with. I was going for a gundam vibe, but didn't have any reference material to hand at the time. I'm going to take another crack at that later.

The weapons are just a token gesture at the moment. I'm going to add something more substantial in the next run at this. I want something detachable and hand held, but as I'm notoriously bad at weapon designs, particularly guns, I'm taking my time on that.

The head - argh! I hate cheating by using minifig heads for mechs, this was a early substitute that didn't get replaced. I actually think it is too small for the body type and will probably replace it later with something closer to my usual cyberagent type of cyclops.

Joints - Turned out much better than I thought they would. Very little of the usual exposed t-bars that my usual double jointed efforts wind up with. The ankle is possibly my most complex to date. I'm attempting a new hand design, which is directly inspired by forte's standard hands, it isn't my usual way of doing things and it means completely rethinking my weapon choices, but I like it. May sneak into my regular design process.

Details - a bit of a mixed bag, which is why I don't mind saying this is unfinished. The rear section of the shoulders is woefully under developed. I want something more back pack like there, maybe with jets. The limbs are reasonable, but I'm not sure I like what I did with the shoulders. I think they need to be wider, perhaps?

This has great potential in my opinion. You should make the shoulders a bit longer upwards (like the EVAs) and somehow hide the knee joints(unless you want him to get an arrow to the knee! :P) Overall itt's a great design!

Quoting DeTomaso Pantera This guy's pretty nifty. He kind of looks like a Bionicle but he's not, I'm not usually a fan of Bionicles, I think the majority of the look alike and I really get annoyed when they swamp the homepage. There is the odd exception though. Nice to see something different here, you've used some neat techniques. I just had a read of your homepage. There are rather a lot of rules and regulations. Hopefully I have stuck to them ;-) I'm in the 34 club too.
Not sure about the bionicle reference, but I'll take it as a compliment, since those things are quite detailed. I agree, they are much of a muchness and I very rarely comment on them as I feel getting an "ok" result requires far less skill. Yeah, my homepage has gone from a brief note to an epic, I'm going to spend some time this week rewording it to eliminate the repetition and maybe boil the "rules" down to a couple of bullet points. In the end all I really wanted to say was, please leave only helpful feedback and don't be surprised if I decline group invitations, beyond that it's just gravy.
