I've always wanted to make a mech but it ends in tears and the Lego is put aside. After getting hold of the "Mecha edition" of Brick Journal (Thanks Joe Meno for a fantastic magazine) I was determined to create a macha. So when i was going away on holiday for a week I decided to take a small box with me and try to make the different joints. Playing around with the few pieces I had with me (This is a great way to build as it forces you to really think) I was extremely happy not only to build my first Mecha but to build two.
About this creation
The small box of LEGO pieces I took with me, try it, it forces you to try different ideas. I knew what pieces I wanted but either didn't have enough or non at all.
Wow, fantastic work! Both mechs are pretty sweet; the the two-legged one looks awsome, and I like the spider-esque-ness (new word!!) of that quadruped. Great job on the artillery cannon on that one as well.
The quad leg's design is rather original, most quads I see end up almost like spider tanks. As for the reverse-joint, I like how you used pieces in unconventional manners, like the T piece merely being used for decoration rather than for a joint, or the phone receiver being used at the front.
