The Throne of Bones
About this creation
For years the Dragon Knights had been hunted by the Lion Kings and then for a time, the fierce Knights were all but forgotten. King Leo had turned his attention to other more pressing matters… Cedric the Bull, the plundering Vikings from across the sea, the undead legions of the Lich King’s Skeleton Horde, the Orc insurgents of the plains, and the Dark Dwarven Militia who controlled the mountains to the north. But what King Leo did not foresee was the ascension of a new foe from the ranks of the fallen Dragon Knights – Sir Draco Drusaud, who after forming allegiances with both the Dwarves and the Lich King, swept across the lands leaving nothing but char, ash, and blood in his wake.

After laying waste to the King’s Castle, the conquering Knight’s first order of business was to order the construction of a Throne of Bones to be built from the severed heads and limbs of his foes.

The skulls of King Leo and Queen Leonora were positioned high into the back of the throne so as to bear witness to their former subjects swearing allegiance to the new King. “All hail King Drusaud. Long may he reign!”

Nice vibe with this. Love that throne, and the fact it shows the "allegiance" of the former king and queen. Delightfully wicked, that.

Quoting Ates Flamefury wait... king leo died this way? i don't recall this in the lego history books. i thought he died of old age, and king mathias took his place... great set1! :)
I'm not that sure of my Lego history, perhaps this is an alternate legoverse... In any case, history is written by the victors, and in this world, the victor was the Dragon Knight.

I haven't had the pleasure of meeting this "Mister Bones" person, but I am a fan of his work. Hopefully he won't take offense. :-)

Quoting Mark Kelso Sweet design (and nice lighting in the presentation, too!).
Thanks Mark! I went really low-budget for the lighting on this one. Instead of getting all of my photography equipment out, I placed my son's minifigure flashlight on top of the moc so the light would shine down on the throne. Rather than use my Nikon, I used the camera built into my phone. I was really happy with the results, especially considering how low-tech the lighting set-up was.

I hadn't planned on building anything last night. I was sorting through bricks and trying to determine how many flat 2x2 tiles I'm going to need for a Harry Potter moc I've been planning. But somehow sorting tiles turned into building a lovely tile floor... and then the tile floor grew into a throne room... and the throne room needed a proper throne... and suddenly a back story about the Dragon Knights was born.
