The 'Genesis' is a heavy carrier designed for transporting armies to planets of interest to the New Empire of Skaborr. Enjoy!
About this creation
While not particularly well-armed, the 'Genesis' has a massive cargo capacity, which can be filled to the brim with fighters, dropships, tanks, mecha, and troops. After the destroyers and cruisers finish the bulk of the naval combat, the 'Genesis' enters the system and unleashes its payload to a planet's surface. Shortly after, the planet switches to NEOS control.
The weaponry on the 'Genesis' is not enough to wage prolonged naval combat, but it is more than enough to hold off an adversary or two until the drop ships are deployed. Then, the 'Genesis' can jump out of range of the system and avoid taking serious damage.
The forward defenses include two point-defense light laser turrets, two medium laser turrets, and two heavy plasma cannons. While the massive plasma cannons look powerful, they are relatively standard as far as main weaponry goes. The size is due to the fact that all the cannons' systems are contained within the barrel. Power, cooling, and recycling are all held here to maximize the space within the vessel for troops. In fact, the cannons, if severed close enough to the base, would still be able to fire independent from the ship.
The main hangar bay is the most well-guarded area of the ship, apart from the bridge. Two point-defense turrets and a medium plasma turret/light plasma turret combo defend the hangar from enemy fighters and lower-tonnage cruisers.
What space is not dedicated to holding armies is used to hold fuel. The 'Genesis' has the single largest engine in the NEOS fleet, and requires large amounts of fuel to provide the thrust required to make the 'Genesis' one of the fastest ships in the empire.
The last thing you see before your planet gets taken over by the NEOS.

Well, I must say that this was a fun build. At first, I had virtually no inspiration, but after a couple of sketches drawn up by the brother that built the first ship seen above, I ended up building a bigger and better ship than I could have done under any other circumstances. Very nice builds! Love the big carrier, those fins give it a nice retro feel. The third one reminds me of a Klingon Bird of Prey, minus the wings. And I love the utility look of the last one, probably the most feasible of the group. Nice job you guys! |

The most recent ship I've made apart from this one is the 'Viper', but that was a while ago. They're good for mixing it up a little, but they are pretty big parts drains. |
