Koom Valley Rumbler
About this creation
Inspiration for this beastie came from the Ninjago Skull Truck wheels - these are the first wheels I've owned that felt like they'd do justice to a big bangin' space assault truck.

Believe it or not the name is Terry Pratchett-inspired. No big bangin' space assault trucks in his books, but 'there is a darkness in Koom Valley' - which seemed appropriate to the Rumbler.

I built this in a couple of days over Christmas. I redesigned the chassis from the Ninjago Skull Truck so that it was wider and lower. I might try to get my hands on a couple more shock absorbers - this weighs a fair bit so it tends to sag a bit on just one shock absorber per axle.

Here we see the cockpit. It seats three in the main cabin, although another five could conceivably fit belowdecks. There's an interior hatch and ladder to connect the two, and access ports either side.

I love the new ADU minifigs, hence their inclusion. I've got a couple of unopened ADU sets, so I'll be harvesting the minifigs from those to add to this in due course.

A couple of shots of the engines:

And the underside, in case anyone cares:

These last two shots show the front of the Rumbler at both extremes of the suspension travel. As I said above, it sags a little at the moment because it weighs a bit too much for one shock absorber per axle.

Hope you enjoy it - please comment!

Quoting Daniel Mayhew This looks fierce. Great detail. I love everything about it. Seems like it would be very fun to play with.
Thanks Daniel - yeah, I'm not much of a hands-on player - prefer to just stand back and take it all in - but it's pretty fun to bounce around and I've been known to give it a bit of a roll around when no-one is looking! Thanks for your compliments!

Quoting Tim C You are a talented builder. I love the meatiness of this work. Great color choices. This may be strange, but I keep getting this thought that it looks like something Batman would go out muddin' in, if he ever did that sort of thing.
Thanks for the great compliments. Yeah, once I finished it I was reminded of two things - HR Giger's Alien and the Tim Burton-era Batmobile. Glad you like it! BTW I just had a look at your page - great stuff, will comment shortly.

Quoting JD Snyder Very nice, very big, very tough looking design. I am surprised that I am the first to comment. Great build and colors. Vehicles aren't my favorite mocs, but this one really is pretty cool.
