A mini-scale lion sculpture for Miniland Las Vegas at Legoland California.

About this creation

I built this lion for the new Miniland Las Vegas cluster at Legoland California. The trickist part was making it look like the actual bronze statue at MGM Grand. I used a lot of tiles and tricks for this one

This really was one of the most complcated models I have ever built. Especially since it was completely uncheated. And no, I can't make instructions. It's too complicated, sorry.

A close up of the head. As you can see I did angle the ears and turned a lot of pieces on their sides.

The hardest thing was to design this side and the back of the model since that is the side that is facing the building and you can't get a good picture of it any where.

I wanted the lion to look as if it were in a natural pose of sitting down. A difficult task in Lego.

The head is the only part of the lion that was mostly mirrored on both sides. But the mane isn't mirrored since the feet are in different positions.

I also angled the feet of this model, just like the real sculpture.

It brought out the LEO in me. I am a Leo and I have always loved lions. You captured the regalness of the lion and did it in a monotone way that was not monotoneous to watch and enjoy. New twists and turns awaited us. You as well as the ladies on this site prove all toys are genderless! Thank You!
