Due to the relative success of the 'Raptor' VLM, the engineers of the New Empire Of Skaborr opted to continue the VLM line by producing a smaller, more cost-effective walker with the same versatility that was demonstrated by its larger counterpart. Thus, the 'Jackal' was born. Enjoy!
About this creation

Designed to hunt in packs, the 'Jackal' VLM is small, quick, and cheap to manufacture.

The base loadout is sufficient for most operations, and features two anti-armor missile pods and a chin-mounted light laser cannon. A contingent of four or five Jackals is more than sufficient to defeat a variety of larger enemies.

Even standing alone, Jackals are formidable adversaries against infantry and light vehicles.

The legs are light and liable to be damaged in battle, but they are cheap to replace and easy to repair.

Two hard points on the Jackal's main body are capable of supporting additional weaponry, which varies from mission to mission.

Seen here is the Jackal's I-Class loadout: energy weapons specific to anti-infantry missions.

A focused laser can be mounted to deal with distant enemies such as snipers or cowardly officers.

A more generic twin laser repeater is more effective against the mid-range enemies.

The V-Class loadout consists of two anti-armor pods, capable of producing heavy casualties.

Each pod consists of twin, two-shot tubes which are capable of firing individually or simultaneously. Each missile boasts considerable explosive power, but ammunition is limited.

Here, a more experienced Jackal pilot has opted to mix weapons classes. Most commanding officers frown upon the non-standard loadouts, but they have proven to be effective in the right situations.

The pilot and his walker.
That's all, folks! Thanks for viewing, and let me know what you think!

Wicked firepower for such a compact walker! I'll order a platoon!
I'd be more than happy to oblige, but I only have one. If you look closely in the main picture, you can see that the pilot is the same for all the mecha. ;) Thanks for all the support, everybody! |

I guess there's no real point in shooting at the legs then... you know, because they are so overwhelmingly intimidating, secure, tenacious and powerful... |

Did you base the mech legs off of your legs? :P just pickin man. Awesome mech!
Nah, I'm too short to have this be based off of me. I'm glad you didn't comment on how unrealistic the legs are; you seem to realize that I made this for the fun of it and not because bipedal mecha are the future's mode of transportation. Something tells me that basing the primary ground vehicle of a multi-star system empire off of a chicken wouldn't be the best idea in real life. ;) Thanks for the comment! |
