AIS HJ-7 Strsljen & AIS HJ-8 Osa
An extensive modification of official Lego 7786 set.
About this creation
The helicopter from Batwing and Scarecrow set inspired me to make an attack helicopter and these two are the end result. I couldn't decide which is better: the co-axial rotor Ka-50 look-alike or the conventional one; you'll be the judge. :-)

First is the Ka-50 wanna be... I named it HJ-7 Strsljen (Hornet).

Elevated back view.

The cockpit. I'm really proud of it. It can fit the minifig with the helmet which was a real pain to achieve. You can probably see that I had to elevate front part of the construction in order to fit the minifigure.

Front view. You can see the weapon load, which consist of unguided rocket pods of various sizes and calibers, anti-tank missiles and laser guided bombs. It is seen more clearly on the main picture.

The upper rotor can move independently, which also something that I'm proud of, even though in LDD if you move the lower rotor it will move the upper one as well. That shouldn't happen on the real model. At least that's what I think. You can see the "technique" behind this. It's not the stuff for the scholar books but it works.

Last picture in flight... Look out, he's got your number! :-)

Next is the conventional rotor HJ-8 Osa (Wasp).

It has two large engines, in contrast to that of HJ-7 Strsljen, making it capable of achieving the same level of speed and maneuverability as it's counterpart. The co-axial rotors are much more efficient but I guess nobody cares about that. Who reads all this text anyway? :-)

The cockpit is much the same, but this one can't fit the minifigure with the helmet, so it's not that good actually. Note the HUD.

Weapon load consists of unguided rocket pods, anti-tank missiles and heat seeking missiles for self-defense or laser guided ones for precision strikes. It has radar mounted above the main rotor, much like the AH-64 Apache.

One final shot "in flight".

Thank you for reading this far. I personally like the co-axial rotors of the Strsljen and the fact that it can fit the minifigure in full combat suit, but I also really like the look of the engines on the Osa. So, can you tell me which one do you like more? And why?

Very good looking. IMO, LDD is actually harder to use than real bricks, so 9/10 for you.

Pretty realistic! For the Experimental competition, from me, you will receive 6/10 points. It is a great design, the LDD just SLIGHTLY affected the score.

Quoting Lego 4 Life Very nice! But one question, why do all your aircrafts and this one have the names with "AIS"?
It's a bit silly, but thats short for a imaginary aircraft industries company of mine -> Aero Industrija Srbije (Aircraft Industry of Serbia). :-) Thanks for the comment.

Not a bad idea, but for some reason I prefer wheels to skiffs. Thank you for the comment though.

Nice work. Maybe you can try a variation with skiffs instead of wheels.
