Moc-off: Stormbringer vs Deus
A passive moc-off between me and Deus, involving non other than dragons.
About this creation
The requirements was to build a dead world diorama, featuring one or more dragons.

My first entry is the Venoxious Toxicrill. This dragon scours the land consuming any life it finds.

The Toxicrill is of a venomous species of dragon (as you can see by its colors and spine) that mainly uses it's venom rather than using fire.

For overcoming its prey it shoots out a nastly burning fluid that is like fire, though it is highly infectious and can turn humans into a puddle of delicious jam.

What is most noted of this creature is the stinger at the end of it's tail.
The stinger has lethal toxins that can immobolize it's prey, and eventually kills.

They especially use this weapon against predators larger than itself.

The dragon can stand upright like the Frost Dragon, but is less chunky.

(I've also been working on some new rock formations)

Aww, looks like it wants to be pet!

The Toxicrill is somewhat based off of the Skrill from httyd.

Originally I was going to make that dragon but never got around to it, except for it's head which I used for this guy.

Hoped you enjoyed him, particularly you Deus. More bizarre dragons to come for this fun Moc-off.

So there is going to be another moc off. Wow I can't wait! These competitions really make you guys look good. Nothing like competition to get ones building skills sharpened. I have still been working on dragons, and I have tried taking your advice in slowing down. I am probably going to post my new one tomorrow night. I would really appreciate your thoughts on it and the others I have done recently. I hope I am not bugging you (I just really appreciate your opinion and advice). If I am annoying you, just let me know.

Nope, he isn't from any game. It's just a dragon from my own imagination.

Man, Deus's build is great. But personally I must wish you luck, and I hope you win. Your dragon is brilliant, and I find your landscape to be extremely well built. The weird dead colors clash with the dragon in a good way. It really makes his toxic nature stand out. He is a hazard that must be seen and avoided from miles away. Good luck, and thank you for taking time to look at my feeble mocs!

Being in your comfort zone, your challenger has the psychological edge. Lets get to it. Stormbringer + Dragon = Enough said. The chosen colour scheme for your Drake I feel was very classy, the vibrancy and pose makes it look like a young drake, using its limbs and claws to maintain movement. I love the work you have done with the spines although I must ask, why there is a gap half-way down the back? For the size you have chosen the articulation is much harder to include and even harder to make look natural íV you have done a killer job. Aggresive, lively and spiney íV for your Dragon I give you 9/10. Your landscape íV being my forte I will be critical. I felt your landscape clashed with your dragon. The textures however, were really well thought out. I doníŽt really have much to say about your landscape apart from the fact it looks like a canyon with muddy/dirty ground. Its well built and had some nice detailing. Landscape I give you 4/5. Overall opinion, I really liked this, the dragon is superb and I think thatíŽs what sold it for a lot of people. I did feel that something didníŽt quite mesh between your landscape and the dragon though, maybe a bit of lushness just to give the vibrant dragon some hiding ground, it seems a little strange for a drake to be somewhere it can easily be spotted. This also would have reduced the level of clashing between the two colour schemes. My overall appeal is 3/5. A really really solid job here, much closer than I ever anticipated â║ ~Thoy

Ok! Dragon time: First off, I loved your dragon as soon as I saw it. It has a very Asian feel, especially around the head, whilst Deus's has a more Scandinavian vibe. Like the others have mentioned, the wings are it's biggest setback, though I can imagine that smaller parts in those somewhat rare colors are hard to find. The use of the wizard hat is fantastic, and the spikes on the back flow into the spiny tail perfectly. 8/10 for the dragon. Diorama: The rockwork is fabulous, the SNOT was done extremely well. The ground however is a little blotchy and distracting. 3/5 for the diorama. Personal opinion: Overall, Deus's build is cleaner, in yours it's a tad hard to pick out the details. However, I do like your presentation a lot better, I like being able to stare at a picture for five minutes, rather than watching a video. 4/5 for personal opinion. I am honored to be judging this!
  January 24, 2012
Good day Mr. Stormbringer! To start things off, I would like to say "well done" to you and your opponent for whipping out two gorgeous creations! This is one of the better MOCoffs I have had the pleasure of judging. ----- Because this competition was centered around the dragon, I shall begin there. My favorite thing about your dragon, I think would be the purple spines running along the back. The purple/dark red complement each other so well in this instance. My main two nitpicks are the tail (I feel that it could do with some better smoothing, and because I wasn't really sold on the headlights along the flex tubing. Perhaps move them closer together to remove the gap?) and the other is the wings. That is one area where Deus has you, is in the wings. Your angled plates simply aren't cutting it for me. BUT I totally love how spiky and ridged your dragon is. Everything from the claws, to the horns on his head, to the shaping of the head. Just before I posted this comment, I remembered the tongue. That tongue in and of itself earns you an extra point. Another gorgeous dragon from you mate, and one well deserving of .... 7/10.... Alright now to the Diorama. The best thing about yours, is the beautiful array of colors to contrast Deus' monochromatic landscape. Yours also utilizes brilliant rocks and s-ss-sand--sand green grass! That is enough to make any castle builder fall down and worship, though I will explain later why I do not. While I think Deus' rocks are a bit better, yours have a gorgeous smoothness that really fits the scene. the layout and detailing also complements the dragon nicely. I could prefer some dark tan bushes here and there, and maybe some smaller rocks but those are just smaller nitpicks. ... 4/5... Now for personal opinion, I shall simply give both you and Deus... 4/5 ... Why? Simply because I would like to think that judging comes down to build quality and not to personal tastes. (For example, if I thought Deus was a nicer guy, I could dock some points from your side and add some to his, or if I thought that you would pay me some money when all is said and done, I would give you some points and take some away from him. I know that things like color/building style/and presentation are all apart of the personal opinion, but my only nitpick was the both of which were small enough for me to give you a 4/5)... So there you go mate. As you can see, I was pretty strict with my judging. Mostly because I think if I gave you a 5, then anything better than yours would get the same thing as you did. But still, .... 15/20 ... is a very solid score and one that you should be well proud of.

Dragon 7/10 points, diorama 4/5 points, personal opinion (presentation, style, purism, focusing points...) 3/5 points. Total 14/20 I know this score sounds harsh, but I'm really being critical in my judging for both of you. The dragon is very well done, and you use some clever parts usages with the witch hat and trans-red eyes. The neck and legs are probably my favourite parts about this dragon, and I really like how you did the joints, as they are nearly seamless. I also think the posibility of this dragon is fantastic. While the head looks pretty good, I sometimes find it difficult to distinguish its features, and occasionally it blends into the terrain slightly. The tail seems slightly sparse, yet I appreciate its flexibility. The wings also pose nicely, but they are too thin and broken for flight. As for the terrain, the rockwork is superb. I really like the SNOT, and it really fits the build. The poisoned plants are also excellent. However, those greenish octagons look far too unnatural, and the brown/grey terrain is a little too muddled. Now, my personal opinion was 3/5. This is mostly due to the colouration. I know many people like it, but I personally am not a huge fan of the red/purple dragon colour. I'm one of those people who like symmetrical ships, normal colours, and all that stuff. In conclusion, this is a fantastic dragon, a great diorama, and a clever build. Good luck in the MOC-Off!

After a close re-examination of your MOC, I see that the best way to defeat you is to concentrate on the head and my clean wings, I guess more consistency I have no hope to make better legs, so it may be close. Diorama will have to break yours like a bug if I intend to win. This last part is possible though.
