A scale model of a Formula One race car made from NXT 2.0 set and some random technic parts. Tried to replicate the details as close as possible from steering to the rear wing. Based roughly on the 2011 cars.
About this creation
Front Wing details
First motor is used for the steering system
Steering detail (bottom view)
NXT controller mounting. I played around with the possible positions and it seemed like this was the best possible option. Having it upright makes the car too tall and bulky and having it pointing to the front would make the car too long. Wires fit nicely into the empty sidepods.
In order to safe space and fit within the scale I had to stack the motors one on top of the other. Not too much problem there other than the fact that there isn't much space at the bottom to fit in a proper gear box. Rear wheels are drive by the second motor on a single axle.
Rear wing details. I wanted to make the rear wing movable like the real thing (drag reduction system) so the third motor is used to open and close the rear wing.
Rear wing closed
Rear wing opened
Light sensor as tail light, and diffuser details.
Size relative to the Ferrari car from Lego set 8168. It measures out to be around a 1:6 model of an actual car.
Thanks for checking out my creation! Leave a comment on what you think about it or any suggestions for improvement? Thanks!

hello, i want to do it but i have a problem on the front direction. can you send me more pictures on this area please?
Hello, thanks for your interest. I have since changed the front end of the car quite a bit to improve the steering column with some other updates. I will post the new updated version when I'm done with it.
If you're looking for details on the steering system though, I mostly copied the basic design from Lego technic set 8436. You might be able to get some details that can't be seen in the photos from there.
Thanks man! Actually I'm still looking for ways to improve the steering system and possibly fit in a gearbox at the rear end of the car.
Checked out your NXT creations. Cool stuff, I've always wanted to make an ATV/tank or something like that. Maybe I'll work on that next.
