Gothic cathedral
A gothic cathedral built in a game called Blockland.
About this creation
Hello there!

This is my first submision to MOCpages. It's a gothic cathedral built in the game Blockland, a game where you build with LEGOesque bricks. This model would be completely rebuildable with real LEGO, so I don't think I'm breaking any rules.

About the build:
The cathedral is inspired by european gothic cathedrals. It borrows many typical architectonical features from cathedrals found in Germany. The main influences where the cathedrals found in Cologne and Chartres. Even more than existing cathedrals, this one has a very strong vertical emphasis. I might have overdone it a little at this point, because the height/width ratio (1,56, see dimensions below) of this cathedral is way larger than that of the cathedral in Cologne (the current world champion with 0,95)

Dimensions:

Length (outside): 402 studs
]Width transept (outside): 216 studs
Width nave (inside): 96 studs
Height west towers: 341 bricks
Height under the vault: 100 bricks
Height under the roof: 125 bricks
Surface area: ~40.000 studs2
Largest bell: Ø 12 studs
Diameter of rose windows: Ø 32 studs

Since a regular 1x1 brick has dimensions 9,6mm x 8,0mm, the cathedral would be about 3,27 meters high, 3,22 meters long and 1,72 meters wide if built with real LEGO.

The model uses a total of 70.000 bricks so far, but is still under construction. So far, I've spent about 20 hours on building.
Please notice that it is not possible to rotate bricks (other than 90 degees in the xy-plane) in this game, so alot of possibilites are taken away from you this way. That's why the east end isn't as round as you would expect it.

This is the organ of the church. You can actually play it in-game.

Okay. I just thought that you made a mistake. Because the Teatro Massimo that I made took me about three months. There was a lot of copy and pasting in it. And I don't even have an interior.

Quoting Anders T Wow, this is very beautiful indeed. To bad it isnīt Lego, Lcad, LDraw or LDD.
Indeed :/ But I don't own that many bricks (not even remotely close), nor do I have the space to build it (it's over 3 meters tall). The advantage with Blockland vs. Lcad, LDraw and LDD is that you can actually play with it ;) That means that you can view every part of it from inside, play the organ, have a sermon with your friends, etc...

Quoting rai v B this is outstanding! How long did it take you to build it?
Thank you! As said, this took some ~25 hours to build. Not including the time spent on looking at pictures and making the organ work properly.
