I've been working on this project for a while now, and still have a way to go. Here's my progress so far on what will one day be a large "Lego interpretation" of Guadalcanal.

As I can see on the pics, the lush jungle is quite a great work!! I like the way you made the US soldiers progress in the vegetation. Very good dio!! |

Nice! So this a WIP? And...What is that soldier holding in the first picture? Is it a pistol? Thanks for adding all those pictures in "large," it makes it a lot easier on the eye.

The Marine in the first picture is holding a Browning 30 caliber machine gun, and the other one is digging with a shovel. It was on a post like this that Gunnery Sergeant John Basilone earned his Medal of Honor, and became one of Americas first heroes of the war. |

The aircraft are painted the way they were at Henderson Field, which was the airstrip on Guadalcanal. The was a very precarious situation for the Americans, and often every single man down to the pilots and cooks were fighting on the jungle alongside the infantry. There was a hodgepodge of different aircraft there, the majority of them were F4F Wildcats and SBD Dauntless dive bombers flown by the USMC. These were either painted in the usual Navy blue color, or the less common grey/white camouflage to aid in their blending in with the clouds. The Navy and Marines kept most of their aircraft blue, since the island hopping campaigns meant they were engaging the Japanese over the water most frequently....
Thanks for the comments everyone, I actually hope to expand it more. I'll post a good background about Henderson Field and Guadalcanal tonight... |

Your already great landscaping keeps proving with each MOC. You've always had the planes down, but now they stand out even more with the beautiful vignettes you make for them. There is a whole lot to see here, makes me wish I had more time to take it all in. Great job! |

Sweet! Great detail and lovely work on the planes but what's the use of a camouflaged base with bright blue planes? |
