Mecha
Here is my first (and probably my last) Mecha. This is my entry for Round #2 of the "Out of your Comfort-Zone contest". Though I can't say I particularly enjoyed building it, I am reasonably pleased with how the Mecha turned out. Building in this style enabled me to use many pieces I don't usually incorporate into my MOCs. Thanks for viewing!
About this creation
Here is a link to the contest.

The downside: Unfortunately I didn't create the Mecha in such a way that it can stand upright unsupported. In these picture its actually propped against the backdrop to prevent it from toppling over (for which the mini-fig inside is very grateful).

The brains of the thing...

Quoting El Barto ! Nifty design! How about a female version?
Heh, don't be expecting to see any more Mecs from me. Thanks for commenting though!

Well, well, well. Letīs judge. Photography: 5/5 your pictures are clean and clear, not like mine (but thatīs my camera problems). Representation: 5/5 very interesting idea of mecha. Overall build: 7/10 it is interesting idea as I said but idea and final result are two different things. I still miss something in this build. And plus that feet ..... stability is important for mechas. Well good luck with other judges.

Thank you! Although it's funny, the feet aren't really the problem (as everyone seems to think). The reason it's not stable is the joints connecting the legs to the body. They're technique pins, which have a tendency to spin in their sockets. Thanks for the reasonable score all the same!

Quoting Quad ????? Alrighty, Judging time. Photography: 5/5. It looked a tiny bit too bright, but nothing deducting a point for. Representation: 4/5. As I've seen so far, most Mechas have the pilot seated more in the center/chest area, and are known for their Greebles. Overall Build: 8/10. I really like the color scheme of this, but, the feet are not stable enough, it looks like there's too much of an empty space between the control center and chest, and the hands/sword-fingers look odd. But I really like how you made this full pose-ability, and would have wished if you added some pictures of it in different poses. Overall Score:17/20. Good luck!
Thanks for the decent score. I confess I was pretty turned-off about this category, just because I felt very limited as to what I could build. I also appreciate your constructive criticism--I didn't even really get exactly what Mecha was--but I'll keep what you said in mind, just in case I'm ever required to build one again.

Quoting Stuart Lucas This is a cute mech! I like the use of different round pieces, it gives this quite a cuddly look, even with the blades. Perhaps this is a marshmallow slicing mech from a high-tech sweet factory? Stability is always an issue with two-legged builds but judging by the photos all you'd need for this one is larger feet. But then, it wouldn't look quite as cute. Good luck!
Thanks! Stability wise, the problem is actually with the joints connecting the legs to the body. They are connected using round technic pins, which tend to spin in their sockets. This causes the Mecha to easily fall forwards and backwards unless perfectly balanced. But all that to say, thanks for your comment sir!

Okay so this is not exactly what I expected from your theme, but this mech is really cool. Nice colour choice, interesting cockpit solution. Hmmm only what I miss are some huge guns and maybe better feet.

Quoting ~Mr.X ~ The color scheme is fine, But I think an improvment could be made to make it more flexable. You could use Hero factory or Exo-force parts. Other then that, this is a great first try for a mech. ~Mr.X~
The build is actually pretty flexible, it can strike all kinds of stances, I just didn't take the time to photograph them all. Thanks for commenting though!

I new you could take this category and bring it new life, and you did. I might almost think you were a veteran mech builder after seeing this. I certainly think this is excellent!

Ian+ Mecha.....something isn't right here. I'm glad to see this contest is helping you try new things. For your first mecha it is really good! The color scheme is nice and I'm sure with a little bit of modification it could stand up on its own. Great job my friend :)

Well, it's better than my fist try for sure. I've found that the best machas are made with smaller joints, which make them more pose-able. Greebling the legs and arms makes a better mecha too. Good luck in the contest.

I love the whole look of this guy. I gotta think he would stand just fine if he had some bigger feet; those joints should be plenty stiff and it looks fairly well balanced.
