My first MOC of 2012!
About this creation
Something I've wanted to do for a while now is go back and rebuild some of my older MOCs. While I was looking though my Bionicle folder, I found my Wasteland Scavenger.
The thing is, it still looks really cool! It doesn't need a rebuild! So, I built a new one instead.
For the lazy people who didn't click the link to the old one, Here is the backstory I wrote for it.
"Hundreds of years after Sir Arrifu killed his evil brother a meteor hit and destroyed metru nui. The shock wave raced across the oceans and wiped out everything on Zola Island, Turning everything into a desolate wasteland. In the years that followed the disaster, Anyone who survived it adapted to their new environment. This was the birth of the scavengers. Vile creatures that Search the wastelands for parts and other supplies. When they find something useful, they will attach it to their backpacks and continue on. Sometimes they will find the body of a dead creature or matoran and use them for parts. They will use the parts to enhance their own capabilities(because of this, no two scavengers look alike)."
Anyway, on with the pics!

In this photo we have the Wasteland Scavenger and his Rust Hound.

Like all Wasteland Scavengers, this one acquired most of his parts from dead Matoran and Rahi.

I'm quite proud of this head design!

This Scavenger also has a backpack where he keeps his most valuable possessions. This one likes to collect skulls.
Wasteland Scavengers live solitary lives and trust Nobody. The reason they all have communications antennae on their backs is completely unknown.

Eighty percent of the Wasteland Scavenger population on Zola Island carry staffs. Most are equipped with lanterns and have sharp objects protruding from the shaft for self defense purposes.

Only ten percent of the population has a pet. There are only a few species of Rahi that survived the disaster. The Rust Hound is one of them. They lived in the mining region of the island before the disaster destroyed the chemical factories nearby. The chemicals then began leaking into the rivers that travel through the region. Any creature that drank the water and survived, quickly became hideously disfigured and unnaturally aggressive.
These creatures are usually used to guard the Scavenger's shelter.

Rust Hound tail.

Not even a mother could love that face!

Northern Notes:
I had a LOT of fun building these guys and writing the stories for them. I just might build a couple more before I move on to other ideas. If anyone wants to give this theme a try, feel free to do so. LegoBlake over on Flickr has already tried it with amazing results. If you have any questions, ask away!
Thanks for stopping by!

These are deliciously creepy, if I can put those two words together. Their features (especially the eyes) both entice me and frighten me at the same time. That's quite a skill. |
