About this creation
Here's my second entry for The MOC Speed Contest. I received the category of Shrink It: Take something huge, and make it in microscale. Looking for creative ways to capture the details of the large MOC and translate them into microscale. Can be one of your own MOCs microsized, an official LEGO set, or another person’s MOC (as long as you properly credit the creator by linking to their creation and mentioning them in the commentary). I've never built Micro-scale before, and originally thought I'd do a castle. However, I then remembered Thoy Bradley's phenomenal Round Four MocOlympics entry, "Candyland".

The front. The foliage is thickly laired, my solution to Micro-scaling such a lush and vibrant MOC.

The side.

Overhead view. I tried to make the golden path as similar as possible to Mr. Bradley's, and it was the first part I built.

The factory. This was one of the most fun parts to work on.

The boat. I almost forgot to build it, fortunately I looked over the original MOC again before taking photos.

The candy canes.

I originally had this as my factory, however after reviewing Thoy Bradley's I noticed the factory didn't have back or side walls. I remedied this, but still like how this version turned out.
Thanks for looking!

Wow! I'm on holiday at the moment but just had to sign in to check this out. Its an absolute honour and privilage to have you use my model as the concept for your competition entry. This is most excellent, your attention to detail is spot-on. A brilliant execution of my most vibrant and whimsical creation, well done! ~Thoy

Great jobe on microfying the MOC, I recognized it instantly. An alternative to your golden path would be using the stud pieces in SNOT, maybe it would look good. Did you consider that and maybe tried it? Anyways, I doubt it would affect the perfect score much.
Good point, I didn't think of that. I decided to do it this way because it seemed like a stud would be a good microversion of the round 2x2s Thoy Bradley used. I have no idea how well SNOT would work. Something to think on, thanks! |
