Very cool Joost, excellent shaping! For me it really looks like the original. Maybe you could make the rear window in black, you would have more possible parts to use. Keep on this way, I can't wait to see it built with real bricks, now :-)) Great job! |

Hi Joost. Very well thank you but tired from a hard week of work. Hope you and yours are well ;). Glad you like them, I know they are not very technical but they have been great fun to build and play with. I can’t believe how popular they have been. I have one more mini moc to post before I restart the GT40. If you are happy to send them via email that would be great. I could leave a comment on this page with my email address on. Maybe you can delete the comment once you have read it. I can’t wait to see it, it looks fantastic and very accurate so far. keep going. Joe |

This car is going to be a sight to behold ;-) The side looks amazing, but I hope you realise it's not going to come cheap.
...a sight to behold... that's for sure (but I did have to look it up :-) . thx !
For the bow bricks about 0.08€/piece. my only hope is that I only used parts in colours ever made... |

It looks like the LDD version is almost comleted!! Do you already know when you going to build it in real bricks? :-D
Hi Thomas, I've got still a lot to do, For now, because this build is of course about the body, I'm putting those bricks together, then I hope to attach them, and then i hope to add the details. As I've never done a car like this, it is all trial and error (1 example :3 hours for the front corner, and maybe it is going to be rebuild). When it is finished, I know which parts I have to achieve... Yes, patience, I know...
Thank you for your comments, and for following my moc, I appreciate it very much! |

A cool update! Very clever parts usage for the suspensions and a very nice design of the front. This one will be a real beauty! |

You tiled the bottom...? Honestly, that's got to be one of the best things I've ever seen. I really appreciate it when people take advantage of the UNLIMITED parts of LDD! =D Tiles everywhere! XD |

Great progess, Joost. Can't wait to see it finished! I like the curves on the rear end. The front seems to be a tough job, there are a lot of curves and angles... Keep on! |

Wow Joost this is looking fantastic. I much prefer the left hand side. I am not sure what is happening in the bottom view (where you mention the other rear axle) but the new version looks excellent. I love how you are creating the curves on top. Are you planning opening doors? Or are you going for aesthetics rather than function? Either way it is going to be brilliant.
Hi Joe, The whole bottom of the car is upside down, to create the curve, that is what I ment with SOB :-) . Yes, doors are opening. I am trying to make the engine compartiment to open too, but I am not sure if LDD will ever show the result (hinge tool blocks after a time). Ok left hand side it will be, thank you very much!!!

and, for the worse, the brick is Twelve plates high, as I need to have six. I was thinking about : http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=88292 , but that isn't available in red, and I seem not to like the inner wheel not to be round . (Am I still talking English?) |
|
|
I think DeT has the best idea (below) but not I'm sure if it'll work. SNOT is another option. It's OK as it is, but I immediately noticed the curve wasn't there. |

Quoting Ape Fight
One thing I have noticed ...
Hi Ape, thanks for your review! do you, by any chance, have a proposal? I seem not to find any suitable bricks on my LDD catalogue. For now I soluted it with a two plate slope with rhe same round arches as I use in the door, but inddeed it doesn't have the same long slope as per real. |
|
|
...following your comment. I am not sure if this is what Ape means: Maybe he is referring to the curved sides of the car. The arch you have used is square or flat (straight up - not curved like the sides of the car). I see his point but I think it looks fine as it is. I assume you will curve the top? Similar to the previous version. Personally I would stick with this arch, or build arches from standard bricks and inverted slopes (the old fashioned way). Hahahaha this is the problem with wips ;). Good luck my friend :) |

Looks great Joost! I think the solution to the arch problem Ape mentioned is in the arches I used in the tree I just added. You know the staggered half arch thingies lol. But I would sure like to have this car outside my front door :-) |
|
|
Progress is looking good. One thing I have noticed is the use of that big arch brick for the rear wheel wells means you can't do the door slope as per the real car - you may have to change this in the next version. |

Hi Joost. Yet more improvements :). really like the engine and the suspension arms look great - similar technique to mine but with different pieces. Is this 15 or 16 wide? I might 'borrow' this technique if it is because my technique is too wide for a 16 wide car. Stop saying wide Joe!!! As Senator says will it be strong enough? Word up ;) |

What happend to the first photo? Is that a new car or a improved version of the old one? :-)
:-) I hope it are improvements, that was my goal.

Just some details I already worked on, and indeed a new technique on the side of the vehicle. |

Haha Joe, As Malte said to me the transporter will have to pick it up, the P48 is not road legal ;-) On a more serious note, you could just download the instructions once Joost has finished this beauty. Thats a really nice idea. The front looks very similar to the GT40! |

The more I look at this the more similarities I see with his lightweight GT40. Did you try the different sized rear wheels also? Joost I have an idea - If you could produce some basic instructions (or even a few LDD snap shots) I could recreate this for a real team photo. I have plenty of red and yellow Lego. What do you think? Just a crazy idea. Failing that you could always come to England :). |

Joost this is looking awesome already. The curves look very accurate so far. That rear corner looks extremely challenging. Really like the lights and exhaust. It is going to look so cool on top of the Transporter ;). I Can't wait for the next update, or the finished article, what ever comes sooner. I am also using a very similar diagram (of a GT40) to help with size and dimensions etc. In fact I use them for all my mocs if I can find them. Sometimes the dimensions are quite surprising and not noticeable on normal photos. Thanks for your comments by the way, I responded on your 2cv. Great work my friend. |
|
|
This looks cool already! Le back looks great and boy has Joe set you a challenge, Good luck Joost you're doing great so far but i recommend to save the rest for a surprise, WIPs take the impact away from the finished article. I'm sure it's going to look great! |
