About this creation
I entered Flare's contest, The MOC Speed Contest and received the round one category of Crappy New Years! - What is the worst thing that you can think of that could happen to you during a New Years celebration? Now build it!
Unfortunately, my last MOC had to be finished, then sorted before I could commence building this entry. Despite building it in a mere two days, I believe it's my best MOC yet. (Which is a little sad...) So, on to the story!

It was New Years Eve, and my friend hosted a party. Thus I left home, and from work took a leave.

I approached his house, and knocked on his door. Voices could be heard, and my friend's at the fore.

I was greeted, and let into his lair. A couple of guests were already there.

We were having a great time, just friends hanging out. Then I heard scuffles, and stones kicked about.

A knock boomed on the door, and my friend was surprised. All his guests had arrived, so what was this for?

It was Kelso and Phipson, so my friend let them in.

They stepped inside, their faces all solemn. Phipson cleared his throat, then addressed us all in a voice most befallen: "I bear some grave news, I'm sorry to say. MOCpages was sold, this very day. Mega-Bloks gave us an offer we couldn't refuse, especially since we couldn't pay all our dues."

Shocked outrage rang out, and I let out a shout.

I stormed from the room, maddened and sad. Phipson called out, "Sir, won't you stay? There are still plenty of beers." Without a look back, I angrily snarled, "No, but Merry Christmocs to you and a crappy New Years!"
I have no idea why I wrote a poem (if it can be called that) for this story. Still, it's the thought that counts.

The cottage. It absorbed every one of my brown log pieces, and is probably one of the densest creations I've ever built.

The back. I didn't have nearly enough pieces to make this wooden, so it's stone instead. A chimney goes up the side, and it contains the button for a light brick used for the fireplace.

A snow drift completely covers this side. I've found I really enjoyed doing rock/snow work.

The chimney. I was inspired by Leda Kat's winning MocOlympics entry.

The driveway. Piles of shoveled snow are heaped to the sides. You can also see the porch, and I included windows for the basement, even though there's no actual lower level.

The front of the house.

The roof, which used a ridiculous amount of black bricks.

The interior. This was one of my favourite parts to work on, and the first time I've given any building half-decent furnishing.

The bunk bed.

The fireplace. I used a light brick to illuminate it, but you can't really tell in the photos. I really like how the brick work turned out, and I included a basket of coal and a shovel for the fire by the hearth.

A painting, and the tables of beverages and glasses.

The Christmas tree. Originally I had planned to do a tree with all grass pieces, like the one Ian Spacek did. Unfortunately, my meager grass collection wasn't up to the task. After many attempted designs, I decided on this. I flip-flop from really liking it to, well, not so much. It looks far better in real life though.

Overhead view. Thanks for viewing, and Merry Christmocs and a Crappy Happy New Years!

If Mocpages were sold, then that would be bad. Me and my friends would be raging like mad. Each day I wake up to find its still here. Lets hope that Kelso won't sell it next year. |

Wow! All sorts of great stuff in this build! I like the corner fireplace, and that's a nice take on tree construction. The front facade turned out well, especially with all the snow work around the house and path. And the poem ain't half bad! Good luck in the contest, Dude! |
