Graphic Novel -Update 003
Here is my latest Update to the Graphic Novel. Tried some new tech's for wormholes and things like that. Still need to work on the lazer blasts. Again thank you all who has given me any pointers, they have helped alot. As you will notice on the picture directly above. These are the Hexan Battleships, I tried to give the effect that there preforming a planetary bombardment on a Scarab outpost.
About this creation

This one needs something but I don't know what yet...

Had alot of fun with this one. I tried to give the effect that the Hexan Fleet is on a recon mission.

Is there a good program to create Planets because I will be the first to admit that my Red Planet that I made in this photo really sucks. It's ok you can agree LOL!!! Any suggestions?

Now here is where I am having some difficultly. Wormholes! They are harder than they look. From the two I created I like the last one on the bottom. As for the Scarab wormhole not so much- Red Photo. A wormhole is supposed to have a lot of energy coming out of it and I'm not having to much success on the FX. Any pointers again would be great.

All in All I hope you guys are enjoying the progress of my Graphic Novel.

Special Thanks:

Until Next Time.....
Feedback is much accepted.

I'm loving that second wormhole, is that a flame effect? You may need to draw the energy coming out of the wormhole manually, but keep playing with filters and lighting effects. I can't wait to see what you accomplish next!

Quoting Eric 'Dragon Born' Mickle Great ships and effects! I'm a novice at photo edits, so my help would be awful. >Eric
Thanks Bud well you should have seen my earlier works not the prettiest. But as they say everyone needs to start somewhere. Thanks for the comment...

Quoting Christian Schlichting The wormhole looks a bit too 2d still but in general a cool idea, work on them! The ships are the greatest detail, the FX work is on a top level except the red planet but you know that...
Thats what Im gonna do, get back to the drawing board. Thanks...

Quoting Marc "Edge" R.unde They're all great, even your own planet! Hehe. The wormhole on the last pic is the best one, imo. The effect looks nice, but I miss something foggy or cloudy behind it, or coming out of it. It would be cool to be able to actually look inside it, just a little. I'm thinkin of the DS9 wormhole here. Something like that. ~Marc
Oh yes DS9!!! One of my favorites from Star Trek. I would love to get a wormhole to look like that in my pictures. Well try, try, try and try again.... Hopefully Ill get there. Thanks bud...

Quoting Parrington Levens Dude your wormholes are freakin unreal! Maybe just toggling the opacity down will blend them straight into the background better, but that's about all I could think of, man you really are raising the bar on the FX. I have started trying to do some really full throttle stuff like you do while sticking to some more basic nice background stuff for those that prefer just to look at the Lego. Personally, I prefer FX all the way like you are doing, awesome man! One day we'll get the gang together and make a collaboraitive sci-fi Lego animation I'm sure! Keep it up man!
Dude I am all for combining forces and trying to launch a Novel or something together with a few guys. That would be great!!! Well you let me know. As for your stuff keep it up! I lack in the story writing if you know what I mean, It takes me months to get something good together. Thanks probably why the Novel does not have a back story yet, LOL. Sorry... Anyway thanks for the pointers Bro.

Quoting Rabid Goldfish Sorry, getting ahead of myself. If you go to Filters, you'll see Blur at the top of the list. Under Blur, you'll find Gaussian Blur. What this does is blur the whole thing based off of what setting you make it. Low settings blur the image, and the edges are misty. High blur makes the whole image a mist. The reason you want two copies for the wormholes, one will be the mist the other the detail. As for the beams, just blur them directly, it gives it a smooth, finished look. You'll see what I mean in a few, when I post a major project.
Thanks Rabid I tried the wormhole FX. Worked out great, I see what you were saying about having two layers of the wormhole FX. If you don't you'll lose the FX all together. As for the Lazer FX that I still need to brush up on a bit but I can see where you are going with it. Thanks again for the Pointers. Looking forward to seeing your upcoming Project as well. Later Bro...

Quoting Rabid Goldfish You're using gimp, right? If you are, a good way to give it that cloudy energy feel is to copy the layer with the effect, and then Gaussian Blur on the copy. Set it real high(you'll probably have to experiment) and it will make a sort of haze around it and make it feel full of energy. Also, use it at about 10 to 20(less at farther distance) for your energy beams, and you'll get a nice effect. Anyway, these pics look great, and you've definitely got something good going here. ^Blub^
I do use Gimp, and I kinda know what your talking about but am kinda lost at the same time. What tools exactly are you talking about on Gimp? As are you talking about highlighting around the wormhole as well as lazer blasts to give it that crazy FX? If you can walk me through it that would be very helpful. Thanks though for the great pointer so far.

Quoting El Barto ! These turned out great, yet again! But I agree with your opinion on the red vs blue wormholes. Maybe go with that star-burst pattern for the red, like that third to last shot? Don't see why the aliens wouldn't have a different technology, right? When's the premiere?
As for the Premiere El Barto I still have quite a few things I have to work on before I launch my Graphic Novel Premiere. I really need to nail the wormhole FX still. Once I get that one the way I like I think Ill start on my long road of Thumbnail sketches for the Novel. As for the diferent wormhole Tech, you make a very good point. Ill have to experiment with different effects to dif the two Races I have so far, The Scarab's and the Hexan Race. Thanks for staying tuned Bud.

Quoting Shawn Purkis My suggestion for the wormholes would be to warp the background around the edges of the wormhole so that it looks like it's tearing a hole into space itself. The lighting effect don't overpower the rest of the picture anymore. Over all great set of pictures.
Thanks Shawn I will try that with the wormhole. My buddy told me the same thing with the lighting effects so I toned it down alot. Thanks for the pointers.
