Technic Gumpert Apollo Sport with working suspension, working engine, working steering, 6 speed gearbox, opening doors & opening hood. =D
About this creation

Building this car, I was aiming to build a very playable car. At the end, the car is not very playable and is just for show. The car is not really playable because it's not strong enough (that's why I placed 2 tires beneath the car as support) and it has no hand of-God-steering..... Not totaly happy with the result of this car, I am already making plans for another Technic car. :-P

Please Rate & Comment :-)

I had planned the 10L Shock Absorber to open the hood, though the hood turned out far too heavy for the Shock Absorber. :-P

Nice car you have here. I really like the engine details. Overall, it deserves a 4/5. Would you like to see my latest creation? It is also a Gumpert Apollo S.

Body looks good and the functions are good. And if you'll making another car this big you could always use an extra set of springs. 5/5

Weight is such a problem on cars of this size and complexity. I have recently up-rated some of my springs with much thicker ones (that I actually got from clothes pegs of all places - perfect fit) that I hope will help - they are much stiffer. I used rubber bands once to assist the springs too - not very purist some would say but whatever. Keep up the pushing of the boundaries my friend! Check out my cars for some solutions - love it that you have done some different suspension geometries too. Have you tried doing any adjustable suspension?

Quoting Benny Boy I'm sure I commented on this? Apparently not, this is a fascinating build, everything looks very well detailed, but its too wide! ;|
Yeah, I know it's too wide. I'm working on a new Technic MOC right now that hopefully will have better proportions! ;-)

I'm sure I commented on this? Apparently not, this is a fascinating build, everything looks very well detailed, but its too wide! It still looks great and you've managed to cover most of it up which is more than I've ever done. Can't wait for the next one ;|

Wow, that's heavy! You did a very good job on the shaping of the Apollo, but I still think that the wheels are a little small. The bodywork is excellent, although - as you admitted - it has become quite heavy. But the Technic functions are great and the shaping, too. A big step forward for further evolution. Well done! :-))

It looks like a very fine supercar, with some references to the Gumpert, but you also missed some key aspects for the roof line. I still like the overall look of it, it's very cleanly built and smooth. I can definitely relate to your weight issues with the suspension! And you did a great job of making that wide chassis you made look good. Very good of you to admit the tire, they're invisible on the photos.

Quoting MortalSwordsman . ...Thomas can I offer one piece of advice regarding scale. I scale all my cars by using the wheels. The wheels are the only thing we can not alter. Select the wheel you want then scale the whole car (length, width and height) using the selected wheel by looking at photos and plans of the real car. For example the distance between the front and rear wheels on most cars is often 2.5 or 3 wheels in length - I hope that makes sense it works for me anyway. I offer this advice out of total respect of your skills you are a far more gifted builder than I am.
A more gifted builder than you?! Don't talk rubish!! You got to have more self-confidence!! But anyway, thanks for the help. It's going to be realy helpful!! :-D

Wow! This is a very good car! I like the long and low shape. It looks very streamlined. Unfortunately, it's too heavy, but the next will be lighter, I'm sure. Keep it up!

Quoting MortalSwordsman . Thomas this is very impressive. The comments below give some excellent advice. For someone of your age to produce this moc is truly inspiring. As Joost says if you continue you will be an amazing technic builder – one of the best. I love some of the functions; the doors and the opening boot using a damper are excellent. I have already commented on the chassis and suspension etc. Well done for your honest appraisal of your work. The only way to improve is to learn from mistakes, we all make mistakes. Excellent work my friend an easy 5/5 from me.
Thanks for the comment !!! I'm really happy to learn from my mistakes. Next time I'll be more precise with the scale (my biggest mistake this time..)! :-D

Quoting Joost Cumps Hi Thomas. Nice build! please consider the following as constructive critisism: The car is too heavy. Every technic builder - including myself - wants to make the body of the car so detailed, the car becomes too heavy. Also, it already starts when creating the chassis: we want it to be strong, and with new technic that means using a whole lot of beams. The easiest way to make a strong car with new technic is to use the body in its constructional integrity. Please, please keep on moccing, you have the talent to become one of the great!!!
You're right that the car is too heavy, but every time I saw something where I could improve I just made it stronger, and heavyer... The problem was also that the car was a little wide, so it was even harder too build a strong car. I'll defenitely use your advise in the next cars!! :-D

Quoting Ape Fight This is FANTASTIC! You're improving so fast - this is up there with the best cars on MOCpages. Loads of awesome Technic functions - everything screams a 5 out of 5 score... apart from one thing; the propping it up with tyres. Well done for admitting that - I wouldn't have noticed. For that reason I have to give it a 4 (still a very good score), but take the lessons from this into your next car and make that new chassis strong! : )
Yes, I know that I should've made it stronger, but I couldn't even find 1 way to improve... I have learned my lesson. ;-) From now on I never going to build the car in 'stages' (like in he Gumpert), but I'll just build the chassis as 1 complete part. :-D
