Vanina X. was a rich & famous mercenary in the 30's. Here she is in front of her personnal bi-plan.
About this creation
I wanted to add a new warbird in my collection. Plus, I liked the idea it could belong to a mighty girl. there's no lie saying that women took a consequent part on searches for treasures, bounty hunting, territory exploration (like in Africa or South America), various adventures, etc.

This plane is pretty big for a single-seat one. As I built it starting from the engine, I had to balance length and wingspan.

I like the black & red color mix. It reminds me of the "Red baron"'s triplan Fokker.

Tough job to take a good pic with the propeller in motion.

Same...

The engine gave me some hard time. I re-built it a dozen times changing some tiny details again and again.

I estimate its power being about 300-350hp (yes, we were back in the '30s...), it is not symetrical as most of planes at that time.

Like WWI warbirds, the two .30 machine-guns are settled in front of the pilot and synchronised with the propeller (it can be useful...). The shooting and the repairs in case of jamming are easier.

A B&W try... It's kind of diffuse but I like it. Directly taken from the 30's.

This one is for size comparison with the biplan from "Pharaoh's quest".

I always bring up-grades to my sets (in this case, machine-guns are more realistic). This time, it was very practical: the original set could not "take off". Because its landing gear was too short and the propeller was mowing the lawn... After many tries, I came up with this idea. The most good-looking one in my humble opinion.

The result is cool.

That's all, folks!! A little bird made during this winter break in a few hours.
Enjoy, comment and happy new year to everyone!!

I'm looking more and more at Lego aeroplanes now. I like this little bi-plane a lot, indeed I think that it's a better shape than the official one. The rows of cheeses on the right side make great exhaust covers. The red wing tips look great and don't dazzle like a totally red MOC would do.
OMG, Thank you!!!! Nothing can hide from your glance!! |

Ah yes, I missed this one. And what a beauty indeed! And the pilot is a great touch. I'm a big fan of these lego land scale old timer planes, even did one myself along time ago I reckon you'll get a kick out of :)
Thank you Parrington!! I'm eager to see your skills spreading on warbirds. It should be great! |

This I a great bi-plane! I really like the colour combination, it also reminds me of the red barons flying machine :-) the details on the engine look really good and I also like the B&W shot. Thanks for all your kind comments Marc! |

I thought I had already been here. These little flights of fancy are a really simple design and yet really effective. With lots of bricks one can build anything, but the skill is shown in what you can do with few bricks. You are awesome at creating these little beauties! ~Thoy
Ôôôh MaAAAAAster!! You came to meeeee! lol Thank you very much!! When you start from the bottom, you learn to appreciate each little cheering comment. So let me tell you that I really appreciate it a lot.

Beautiful. The red and black looks great on this. It makes me think of Amy Johnston and those other brave men and women who dared to fly these pioneering machines. Happy New Year Marc!
