About this creation

I've been looking round MOCpages and noticing some stunning Dioramas, and it occurred to me that I hardly ever create backdrops/scenes for my designs.

So as an experiment (and possibly a future set design to display my smaller MOCs) here is my first attempt.

The details are a little random, but I'm hoping the overall effect is ok.

It's intended to be part of a starship corridor.

Note; (there are no shots of the reverse because, there is no reverse. I haven't added any detail on the back of the walls.)

No LDD file for this one folks, didn't think anyone would want/need it.

Edit: oops, I've messed up slightly with the floor pattern.

Thanks guys for the encouraging comments, always nice to hear that something isn't as lame as you think it is. I'm planning (after the mini mech contest) to create a modular display area for my mecha/cyberagent mocs. the plan is for it to be made up of multiple sections that can be mixed and matched. But in order to do that I need to make some adjustments to the basic structure:

1. they need to be interconnect-able, That means replacing the base with technic connectors or having one side with studs facing out and the other with studs facing IN, so they can be connected.

2. They need to be taller! As was mentioned in the comments these are fairly tall in comparison to minifigs (I'm using 16 x 16 stud plates as a base) that doesn't give me much room to work in for mecha (equates to 10/12 bricks tall). I may double the height and length in future designs.

3. floor panels need a rethink. Since the idea is that mocs will "stand" on the floor, it might be a good idea to have some studs and holes available for them to actually stand on. Might also be a good idea to hide some features in the walls too. Nothing says action like a ninja doing a flip off a wall. I need to keep this in mind too when mocing the mecha. A stud or a "hole" needs to be available under the feet for connecting.

4. forward planning. So far I've done two of these and the designs are fairly random. Next time there needs to be more of a pattern. I need to keep function in mind. If the detail is intended to represent machinery I need to have an idea what that machinery does.

5. the devil is in the detail. If I'm going to have patterns (like the floor tiles) I need to be consistent.

Has an eerie feeling to it. I think it could be really cool with something organic coming out the wall.

I did try dressing it in white first, but since the new uploader uses white as the backdrop, the results looked very washed out and difficult to pick out detail. I did also try using lighter shades of grey on the walls, but I felt the metallic grey said "starship hull" better. I'm going to attempt something much larger next time, when I tried placing some of my mocs in this as a test, anything more than 3 minifigs tall was looking over the walls! Maybe something with a door next...
