Totoro:A 2011 Christmas gift
This was constructed as a Christmas gift for my sister. For those who are not familiar to this beloved Japanese character, here is a short introduction , he was made famous by a wildly popular film produced by Studio Ghilbi.I know that some important features are missing, but i omitted them because they looked bad on my lego totoro.
About this creation

4th wall commentary:Totoro was surely a challenge especially in minifigure scale. The whiskers and eyes perpetually botheres me because of their original awkwardness, however i managed to pull through.

Almost forgot have a merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Quoting Atommyc . Very nice! Might be a little late, but this part here (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=85861) might have worked better for eyes if you had 'em. Cheers!
That's what i thought! after placing those pieces i would then place the leaver piece which would go through the hole

I love the Miyazaki movies. Totoro is not an easy character to portray in LEGO. Nice job!

If I was your sister . . . I would have a HEART ATTACK! Very good job on the 'Map', The plants are excellent The Totoro itself is AMAZING. (Please make the smaller Totoro's next! I would love to see how you did them..!)I'm afraid of the cat-bus though, it always creeped me out... (Enter in the mouth, Sounds healthy right?)

I'd also like to see the tiny Totoros. And that cat bus was rather creepy a bit like the Cheshire cat gone crazy lol

Fantastic! I watched this film on Christmas eve and I loved it! Rather bizarre but very enjoyable. There was another film on Christmas day with some crazy cute swimming creatures but I can't remember the name of it. Beautiful films though and very worth watching. You have captured this beautifully in Lego and when I saw this it put a :-) on my face. Those pieces for eyes would be perfect. I bet your sister is well chuffed with this! Such a nice thoughtful present. Happy Christmas

Quoting MortalSwordsman . I have not seen the film but I know the character. I love it especially as he is holding the umbrella. He has real charm something that is very hard to convay using Lego. Merry Christmas.
Brilliantly spoken, thanks for the comment.

Quoting Christian J (Have'n fun in vacation with family) Great build! I hope your sister loves it! I remember this character. I never actually like the movie.
I love the movie, studio ghilbi films can really touch on heart strings and are filled with emotional moments and the characters can really convey their emotions to the audience
